D. Presentation and Discussion

Development of the The teacher will discuss the following features of a narrative text; theme, character, plot, settings, and conflict.
Lesson
A narrative text is a story that is created in a constructive format that describes a sequence of fictional or non-fictional events.

Narration is the telling of a story. The succession of events is given in chronological order.
The basic purpose of narrative is to entertain, to gain and to hold a reader’s interest. However, narratives can also be written to teach

or inform, to change attitudes/ social opinions e.g., soap operas and television dramas that are used to raised tropical issues.
To develop an effective narrative essay, paper, poem or book, you need to include several common narrative elements.

A theme is the central premise in the story. A main character's coming of age is a common theme, for instance.

Characters include main characters, subordinate or supporting characters and minor characters.

The plot is the way in which the story develops and includes goals of the characters, obstacles they face and significant turning points.

The setting includes geographical location and other facets about where the story occurs, such as in the forest or in a small town.

Conflict in a narrative is created when the main character wants something. When something else gets in the protagonist's way, a conflict
arises.

 "Man vs. Self" is the only true version of internal conflict you will find in literature. In this mode, the conflict takes place within the mind
of the main character, and often involves the character making a decision between right and wrong, or other mixed emotions.
 Man vs. Man" is probably the most common form of external conflict, and is also known as interpersonal conflict.
 "Man vs. Nature" pits the main character against the forces of nature -- in the form of a natural disaster or a similarly dangerous situation
 "Man vs. Fate" exists in any story in which the protagonist is struggling against a god or gods.
