How do you plan to implement this lesson and integrate the technology? Check all that apply:

X Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the student and mostly
practice based.

X Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic of
learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The teacher facilitates
the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems and completing projects to
demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared outside of the classroom.
(Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing
it via an outside source.)

Multimedia: Audio or Video Lesson Idea

Lesson idea implementation:

Students will listen to my podcast and get excited for reading little Red Riding Hood the next day in
class. Once students have finished reading the book as a class with me, they will then have to go
back to their seats and create their own video or podcast of the differences and similarities between
either the wolf and little Red Riding Hood or the similarities and differences between the wolf and
grandma. They will have to create their own script and record their own so in a way this lesson is
student-led and teacher-led
Managing student learning:
To ensure that there is not a shift in behavior of students and to make sure they are on a timeline I will
require them to submit a script that they will be using in their video or audio. The script will be due the day
before they record.
Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Reflection: Be sure to mention one specific UDL principle you
are focused on in this lesson – Multiple Means of Engagement, Multiple Means of Representation,
or Multiple Means of Action & Expression.
This lesson allows the students to engage in a story and then be able to represent the differences
and similarities between characters in their own way of a video or audio. The video or audio allows
them to express themselves how they please within guided boundaries. I will allow students to be as
creative as they want while still explaining the content and reaching their goals.
Reflection:
After designing this lesson, I feel that the students will enjoy having some control over their own
learning and be able to compare and contrast just as the standard says after I have given them
detailed guided instruction on the expectations.
