A SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH 8

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson the students should be able to:
a. identify and define key elements of a short story;
b. demonstrate understanding through interactive activities; and
c. apply knowledge collaboratively in analyzing and identifying story elements.

III. Learning Procedures
a. Preliminary Activities
A.1. Prayer and Cordial Greetings
The teacher calls on a student to lead the prayer followed by the greetings.
A.2. Checking of Attendance
The class monitor checks the attendance of the students.
A.3. Review
The students are asked to give a recap of the previous topic.
A.4. Presentation of Lesson Objectives
The lesson objectives are given to students for their awareness.

Scene Snap: Guess The Movie Title
The teacher will act famous lines from famous movies and let students guess
the movie title.
B.2. Analysis
Story Quest: Classroom Treasure Hunt
The teacher will hide treasure boxes containing elements of a short story.
Students who find the treasures will receive special gifts as rewards.
B.3 Abstraction
The teacher will discuss each element of a short story through PowerPoint
Presentation.

B.4. Application
The class will be divided into two groups. Each group will work together to
complete a puzzle. To receive a puzzle piece, students must answer a question
correctly, ensuring no student receives more than one piece. Once the puzzle is
complete, the groups must read the story and identify each story element. 1
point for every correct answer on each element. The group that finishes the
task in the shortest time and got the highest points will be declared as winner.
IV. Evaluation
The students will answer the quiz on Quizziz. The teacher will provide the code to
the class so that they can have the access to the quiz.
V. Assignment
Write your own short story incorporating the elements discussed in class and
present your work next meeting.
