 В англійській мові прикметники
поділяються на дві групи:
 Одно- і двоскладові (слово складається з
одного чи двох складів)
small, cle-ver
 Багатоскладові (слово складається з трьох
складів і більше)
in-te-res-ting
 В англійській мові є
три ступені порівняння прикметників:
 звичайний (Positive Degree), 
warm - тепло
 вищий (Comparative Degree), 
warmer - тепліше
 найвищий (Superlative Degree).
the warmest - найтепліше
Односкладові прикметники та прислівники
Утворюється за допомогою закінчення -er  та закінчення -est .

cold colder the coldest

small smaller the smallest
young younger the youngest
 Двоскладових прикметників,
що закінчуються на -ble, -er, -y, -some, -ow:

Якщо односкладові прикметники та прислівники
закінчуються на одну приголосну букву, перед
якою стоїть голосна,
 кінцева приголосна подвоюється.

Якщо прикметник закінчується на -у, перед якою
йде приголосна, то вона змінюється на -i: (y - i)

 Багатоскладові прикметники та двоскладові
прикметники,що не закінчуються на -ble, -er, -y, -some, -
ow.
Утворюють за допомогою слів more (більш) та the most (найбільш,най-).

1. Kyiv is the biggest city in Ukraine – Київ – найбільше місто України.
2. London is more expensive than Kyiv – Лондон дорожчий, ніж Київ.
3. A cat is faster than a turtle. - Кіт швидший за черепаху.
4. A melon is heavier than a lemon. - Диня важча, ніж лимон.
5. Good health is more important than money. - Здоров’я важливіше
за гроші.
6. Tim is better than Steve at tennis. - Тім грає в теніс краще за Стіва.
