FORMATION OF HEAVIER
ELEMENTS DURING STAR
FORMATION AND EVOLUTION

S11/12PS-IIIa-2
OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, you should be able to:

a.Identify the heavy elerments;
b.to give evidence for and describe the formation
of heavier elements during star formation and
evolution;and
c.cite the significance of knowing how the
elements in the universe are formed.
Preliminary activity
• Prayer
• Checking of Attendance
• (Checking of attendance will done by looking at their seat
plan)
• Review of of the past lesson
ELICIT

• The Teacher will call out one to three learnes to

recap what have transpired in previous lesson.
• ( The Formation Of Light Elements)
ENGAGE (Motivation)
• The teacher will show a pictures of
different elements such as C, O, Ne, Mg,
Si, S, Ar, Ca, Ti, Cr to the students.
• After showing the pictures the teacher will ask the
learners some questions.
Questions
• What do the pictures represents?
• Where can we see the lists of these elements at
present?
• How are these elements formed?
• After the learners have answered these
questions, the teacher will wrap it up and
connect it to new lesson/ topic for the day.
EXPLORE (Lesson Proper)
• Activity
The Teacher will show a video presentation
about the formation of heavier elements.Instruct
the learners to watch and listen carefully to the
video and take down notes some important
points. (The Formation of Heavy Elements: In
the Beginning)
Activity 1. The Round Table.
• The Teacher will group the class into five(5)
groups with 6 members each Group.
• After being group they will form a circle and each
Group will Select a group leader and a reporter that
will present their output after the activity.
• Each group will be given a sheet of paper,Pentel
pen , one ( 1) whole catolina paper, wherein they
are going to write their final answer.
• The Paper will be devided into three portion
( Stellar NucleoSynthesis, Carbon Nitrogen Cycle
and Alpha Ladder.
• In the activity proper each one of them will
going to write What are the heavy elements were
formed? And What are the evidences found
during their formation?
• The learners may follow this format in writing their
answers.
Processes Elements formed Evidences

Stellar Nucleosynthesis

Carbon Fusion Cycle

Tripple Alpha Ladder

• Each one of the will be given five ( 5 ) miniutes to write
thier ideas.
• After five minutes the learners will pass the paper
to next member of the group for his /her turn to
write his/her ideas,
• After all members have written their ideas, the
group will be given another five minutes to transfer
what they have written in a piece of paper into the
Cartolina and finalize their answers.
