“Making Handicrafts”

Proposal summary

Poverty is the leading problem in Barangay Banaban, Bayambang, Pangasinan. A group of student nurses have
identified the availability of Abaca and Bamboo in the community. They proposed making handicrafts to the project
director. The profit can help the people in the community have a sustaining financial resources to eradicate poverty.
The elderly in the community have skills and experience working in Narda's Hand Woven Art and Crafts, and they
are willing to train the people in the community. The community participated in Parol making contest last 2017 and
have history of success in handling projects and in technology. And the group of student nurses recommended this
handicrafts making because it is environmentally friendly. This project is not only limited men or women but
everyone can participate in making handicrafts.

Background and rationale of the project

The project proposal aims to provide that support and address the challenges currently faced by the community
project proposal directly describes the objectives, activities, and expected results of a project. Having this
information clearly written down will help the team to keep on tract on what they need to do to like for example it
improve livelihoods and eradicate poverty by making handicrafts. The proposed project will enable capacity-
building through knowledge inputs, resources and the help of the elderly in the community that has skills in making
woven art and crafts by training the people in the community. It is said that the community participated in a Parol
making which was successful, means that handicrafts is effective in the community. It was also recommended that
handicrafts making is environmental friendly and making handicrafts is not only limited to men and women but
everyone as a whole can participate in making crafts. This said handicrafts and other projects can help them
maintain and sustain their financial resources.

Goals

- There will be a sustainable income generated projects for each member of the community.

- The residents will be able to utilize those available resources within their community like the bamboo and abaca.

- This project will allow the skillful people most especially the elderly to pass through every generation for them to
develop sustainable income in their community.

Objectives

- Trainings and seminars are to be facilitated to improve the knowledge and skills of the people.

- Establishment of partnership to different Government and Non- Government Offices to procure assistance to
utilize in the process.

Program Plan, Implementation, Management, and Evaluation

Group of nursing students plan to resolve the leading problem in Barangay Banaban which is Poverty. In
planning and programming of project development it involves analysis of condition, setting goals, identifying
strategies or project candidates and ultimately establishing a program of policies and projects to reach the
community goal. The nursing students set goals to help the barangay cover their financial needs and have a stable
job. The planned project of the nursing students together with the barangay officials and the people is making
handicraft.

In Program Implementation; the group of nursing students have to send a letter to the barangay officials and
also to local government containing, that in order to implement a program the nursing students must have enough
budget to support this project through the Department and Budget Management’s Local Budget Memorandum no.
78, s. 2019. If the barangay officials allowed this type of program and also the local government to support this
project, then the nursing students will implement a policy first before conducting a program together with the
Secondary leaders. In implementing this project nursing students will have to seek help with the elderlies that have
already skills and experience in making handicraft and willing to train the people in the community.

In Program management, the nursing students together with the COPAR team will have to facilitate and
manage the project, the nursing students will have to explain to the people what is the benefit of making handicraft
using abaka and bamboo, because with understanding the nursing students will easily conduct the program and there
is the willingness of the people to participate in the project.

In program evaluation, the people will be able work independently in making handicraft and the people will
be able to sell these handicrafts in cheap or expensive price.

This Organizational structure establishes the formal relationships, of the board member of the
organizational, program manager, administrative officer, accountant manager, project coordinator, training
coordinators and also the field workers. This organization will facilitate an effective interaction and integration
among all the major project participants and achieve open and effective communication.

Job descriptions and Responsibilities

Project director of the Organization- Sets clear vision for the project to be implemented and leads others toward
achieving the goals. They participate in the development of area strategic plans, goals, and objectives and implement
action plans in order to achieve effective and success plans.

Program Manager- Organize programs and activities in accordance with the mission and vision of the
organization. They also develop new programs to support the strategic direction of the organization where they
create and manage long-term goals.

Administrative Officer- The administrative officer handles the administrative tasks in the community such as
answering scheduling meetings, preparing reports and filing of documents. They are responsible for managing the
inventory and organizational records.

Accountant Manager- The accountant manager establishes the financial status by developing and implementing
systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting information, and managed accounting staff about the
financial status of the organization. They are also the one who recommends strategic plans and reviews in preparing
and completing action plans, implementing production, productivity and completing audits.
Project Coordinator- The project coordinator provides community development, advocates for the community
members, assists clients directly with information and referral services and facilitates an awareness of social needs
and trends within the community.

Training Coordinator- The training coordinator are the ones who communicates with managers to identify training
needs and mapping out development plans for the team and individuals in the community. They manage, design,
develop, coordinate and conduct all the training programs.

Field worker- The field workers improve the lives of people who are oppressed, depressed, poor, and exploited
struggling barangay by helping them bring change in the community. They are also the one who will work with the
individuals, families or whole communities to empower them to identify their assets, needs, opportunities, rights and
responsibilities. They will also plan on what they want to achieve and to take an appropriate action to develop
activities and services to generate aspiration and confidence for the people of the community.

Details and Summary of the Budget

The budget for the proposed project of the nursing students will be coming from the Department and
Budget Management’s Local budget, and also if the barangay officials allowed this type of project then they can also
get a financial support from the local governments .The student nurses can appoint who will be the treasurer and
auditor so that there will be someone who will monitor the expenses of the said project and for transparency
purposes. The said funding that we can get from the Department and Budget Management’s Local or also to the
non-government agencies will be used to implement our plan for the community.
