21 called Naming words. They are names of persons, places, things, animals and events.

33 Today we will learn about common nouns and proper nouns. After our lesson you will

34 know the difference between the two nouns. Boys and girls are you ready?

43 (PAUSE) Very good! They are called nouns. These are names of persons, places,

There was a girl named Rina. She lived in the province of Camiguin. (PAUSE) During her birthday, she

received a gift from her Uncle Ramon. (PAUSE) When she opened it, she smiled and was happy because it was

her favorite pet. (PAUSE) She called it Hachi. (PAUSE) Her pet ate Binto Biscuit and drunk Pandan Milk.

(PAUSE) She bathed with a Papaya Soap and Citric Shampoo. They played in Mambajao Plaza. At night,

Hachi slept under Rina’s bed. She loved very much her puppy.

67 Nouns. Kamo daw bi, say Proper nouns. Very good. How about words like shampoo,

68 biscuit and dog? (PAUSE) You got it right! The words starts with a small letter and

69 they are called common nouns. Say Common nouns.

71RADIO TEACHER: The general name of a person, place or a thing is a COMMON NOUN.

72 Nagsugod siya sa gamay na letra unless they begin in a sentence or it is a title.

73 (PAUSE) Example: First, He is a magician. In the sentence we are talking about the

74 magician. Magician is a general term for the person. Second, He lived in the City. In

75 the sentence, we are talking about a place. City is a general name for the place. What

76 else? Can you name some common nouns? We also have dog, president, holiday, town

77 and many more. On the other hand, specific name of people, months, places and

78 organizations are called Proper Nouns. Nagsugod siya sa dako na letra. Example: First,

79 John, the magician, entertains people. We are talking about a magician named John

80 who is a person. (PAUSE)Second, They lived in Marikoda City. In this sentence we

81 are talking about Marikoda,(PAUSE) a city. Marikoda is a specific name of the city.

82 (PAUSE) What else? Can you name some Proper Nouns? Browny, President Rodrigo

83 R. Duterte, Balingasag, Misamis Oriental. Nasabtan na ba ninyo unsa ang kalainan sa

84 common and proper nouns? Para atong mas masabtan, let us do the Guided Activity 1

85 and find out who will be top notchers in this activity. You will write the specific name

86 of the words in the first column. You can find the answers from the story read.

87 Example puppy, it is a common noun and the proper noun is Hachi, the specific name
