A DETAILED LESSON PLAN FOR MATHEMATICS

GRADE 10
RUSSEL ECHAVEZ PANUGAN
I. LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of the one hour period (60minute period), the student should be able to:
1. Identify the parts of a circle
2. Illustrate a circle and the terms related to it: center, radius, diameter, chord,
secant and tangent
3. Develop the value of determination in acquiring the skill

II. SUBJECT MATTER

A. Topic: Center Radius of a Circle

B. Materials: Visual Aids, Chalk, Blackboard, Laptop and TV set.
C. Strategies/Methods Used: Collaborative Learning, Lecture Method, ICT Integration,
Deductive Method
D. Values Integration: Cooperation, Enthusiasm, Appreciation and Determination

III. PROCEDURE
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY STUDENT’S ACTIVITY

A. Preparation (5minutes)

“Good Morning Class… “

“Good Morning Sir “
“How’s your day my dear students?’’’
‘’’It’s Good Sir…””
‘’It’s nice to hear that! Before anything
else, may I request everyone to please (Students follow what their teacher
stand for a prayer to be lead by Rushly. requested to them)

Rushly: “Let us all out ourselves in the

presence of the Lord as we say, in the name
of the Father and of the son and the holy
spirit. Amen.

“Our Father ……”””

(Everyone is Praying)
“Thank you Rushly. Before you may
take your seats, kindly pick up some
pieces of paper under your armchair
and after that, please go back to your
permanent seat because I will check “Yes Sir.” (Students go back to their proper
your attendance according to your seat seats)
plan.

Who can recall on what we had

discussed last meeting? Yes, Joe? Joe: Last meeting we discussed about
Distance and Midpoint Formula.
What is Distance and Midpoint Jake: This method can be used to determine
Formula? the distance between any two points in a
coordinate plane and is summarized in the
distance formula. d=√(x2−x1)2+
(y2−y1)2. The point that is at the same
distance from two points A (x1, y1) and B (x2,
y2) on a line is called the midpoint.

Very good Jake

B. Motivation (5 minutes)

“This morning we will discuss another

lesson but before we will proceed to
our proper discussion let us have first
an activity. I will divide the class into
two teams. This side will be the Team A
and the other side will be the Team B.

I have some questions here in my hand “Okay Sir.”

so do you need is to answer.

The instruction is choose 1

representative and please stand up. “Yes Sir!!!”

Are you ready? Team A: C

Team A: 4

1. What is the center of A and E? Team B: M

2. What is the center of 1 and 7?
3. What is the center of the word Team B: C
MATHEMATICS? Team B: 2
4. What is the center of the word
TEACHER?
5. What is the center of 1 and 3?

The winner is..... Thank you for your

cooperation class! Let’s give ourselves
a VIVA applause!

C. Presentation

From the activity that we have done

what do you think is our lesson for
today? Anyone? Thom: Maybe, Our Lesson for today is the
Center Radius of a circle.
Yes Thom?

Brilliant idea, so our topic for today is

all about center radius of a circle.

D. Discussion Proper
(20 minutes)

Let’s discuss first what a center radius ( Moan is raising his hand)
of a circle is. Anyone who has idea if
what a center radius of a circle.
Moan: with the center being at the point (h,
k) and the radius being "r".
Yes Moan?

That is one of the definitions of a

center radius of a circle.

In other words, The center-radius form

of the circle equation is in the format (x
– h)2 + (y – k)2 = r2, with the center
being at the point (h, k) and the radius
being "r". This form of the equation is
helpful, since you can easily find the
center and the radius.

As you can see here, there is a point

inside the circle. And called it Radius.

Based on the figure who can give the Pael: A straight line extending from the
meaning of radius? center of a circle or sphere to the
circumference or surface: The radius of a
circle is half the diameter. The length of
such a line.

Very good Pael!

And now let proceed on how to find

the center and radius of the circle using
this formula: (x – h)2 + (y – k)2 = r2

The standard form of the equation of

the circle is (x – h)2 + (y – k)2 = r2 ,
where (h, k) is the center and r is the
radius of the circle.

The radius r is the distance between

the circumference and the center of
the circle.

Given, coordinate of the center of the

circle is:
(x,y)=(3,2)
Thus,
(h,k)=(3,2)

The radius of the circle is the distance

between the center (3, 2) and the given
point (0, 2) on its circumference.
Using the distance formula, we get:

d=√ ( x 1−x 2 ) 2+( y 1− y 2) 2

r=√ ( 3−0 ) 2+ ( 2−2 ) 2

r=√ 9
r=3
We have:

(h,k)=(3,2)
r=3
Substituting the values of (h, k) and r in
the standard equation, we get:

(x−h)2+(y−k)2=r2
(x−3)2+(y−2)2=32

(x−3)2+(y−2)2=9
Students: Copy sir
E. Drill/Enrichment Activities
(5 minutes)

Get ½ sheet of paper and answer the

following equations.
1. (h,k)= 4,1
2. (h,k)=0,7

F. Application (10 minutes)

At this very moment, you are going

to apply what you have learned to
real-life situations. ( Make a short
story that relate in our topic).

IV. ASSESSMENT (10 minutes)

On a 1/4 piece of paper copy and answer.

(h,k)= (-6, -7).

V. ASSIGNMENT (2 minutes)

Study in advance about Graphs of a Circle.
