Talk about your favourite festival in Vietnam số 1

I'd like to tell you about my favorite festival. It is the flower festival. It is held in Da Lat at the
end of December every year. The local people and tourists take part in the festival to see
hundreds of kinds of flowers. They can take photos or buy flowers if they like. Walking along
the streets, we can see a variety of flowers displayed. Different kinds of flower are arranged to
make many special animals with the colourful lights. I think this is one of the festival I like
best because I love flowers. I love the all the colors of flower. If I have a chance, I will join in
the festival again.

Talk about a festival you know ngắn số 3

The Mid-Autumn Festival is an important traditional holiday in my country. It is often

celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar with a full moon at night.
Mid Autumn Festival is mainly for young children in Vietnam to enjoy the best time of the
year. But not only can children celebrate this day but also adults can, adults who wish to have
a chance to remind them of their childhood and feel young again. During this exciting Autumn
festival, making masks and lanterns is probably one of many activities that take place. The
most interesting activity is dragon dance. Dragon dancers dance to every household in their
neighbourhood. And when speaking of Mid-Autumn, we can’t help but to mention the Moon
cake. The round shape of the moon cake signifies completeness and reunion of families.

This is my car. (Đây là ô tô của tôi)

That is my best friend. (Đó là bạn thân của tôi.)

That (kia, đó) Those (những cái kia) Xa

II. Đại từ tân ngữ - Object pronouns: “it”& “them”

Đại từ (Subject) Túc từ (Object)

I me

You you

He him

She her

It it

We us

They them

49

số nhiều.

50

Hi Sammy!
Thanks for your email. We’re celebrating Chinese New Year at the moment. We celebrate it in the
first month of spring. It’s a very important festival for Chinese people. Before the celebrations, we
clean our house. This is a tradition – we wipe away all the bad things. On New Year’s Eve, we have a
special meal with our family. We eat traditional food and watch fireworks at midnight. We also wear
red clothes. Red means fire, so we believe that our red clothes help chase away bad spirits. When we
wake up on New Year’s Day, we always find red envelopes in our beds. There is money in them –
they’re presents from our parents and grandparents. We watch dragon dances, too. They’re my
favorite part of the festival. I love Chinese New Year, because I like all the traditions and I like being
with my family.

Alice: Hi, Simon. You went to Japan last year, right?

45
Simon: Yes, I did. I visited Tokyo. It’s my favorite city. Tokyo is the largest megacity in the world. It has a
total population of 35 million people, so it’s always crowded.
Alice: That’s interesting. I’m going to travel to Tokyo next year. When should I go?
Simon: You should visit Tokyo in spring. The most beautiful time of year is spring, when the cherry trees
are in full blossom. You shouldn’t go there in the summer because it’s hot and humid.
Alice: Should I rent a car when I am in Tokyo?
Simon: No, I think you should take the subway. It’s safer and faster.
Alice: Oh, good. And what places should I visit?
Simon: Well, you should visit Tokyo National Museum. It’s the oldest museum in Japan, and it’s also one of
the most traditional places. You can buy really nice postcards there.
Alice: OK. Thanks a lot for your advice.
Simon: You’re welcome.
