2. STANDARDS:
Unless otherwise specified herein, construction, performance and testing of all
equipment shall comply in all respect to requirements contained in the latest Issue
IEC, B.S of the specification.
Latest of: 1.2: IEC 60502 cable requirement.
2.2: BS 6622 cable requirement.
3.2: IEC 228 conductor.
4.2: BS5467 insulation.
3. SERVICE CONDITIONS:
Conductor shall be suitable to ensure satisfactory operation for the following altitude,
climatic and atmospheric site conditions:
a) Altitude: Sea Level and will be subjected to lightning strokes.
b) Ambient temperature: 50°C.
c) Wind pressure: (kg/m2) 80 – 130
d) Seismic acceleration: (g) 0.12 - 0.05
e) Isokeraunic level: 10 – 18
f) Relative humidity: 90 - 100%
g) Average thermal resistively of soil: 1 .5°C.m/W
h) Solar radiation: 1200W/m2
i) Atmosphere: Heavy salt and dust laden pollution in coastal
areas, moderate sandstorm exposure and
dust pollution in low to mid altitude and
region and light to heavy dust pollution at
high altitudes.
Description:
Construction:
1- Conductor: plain Circular Compacted copper or Aluminum Conductor according
to the latest issue IEC & BS- standards.
2- Condductor Screen: Extruded themosotat Semiconductive compound.
3- Insulation : Extruded XLPE rated 90 oc Cross – linked by:
a- Dry curing on CV. Line with Nitrogen.
4- Insulation Screen:-
4-1- Non metallic part: - Extruded thermoset and Semiconductive compound, bonded.
4-2- Metallic part: Copper tape 0.1- 0.15 mm thickness.
5- Suitable filler extruded or Separated Units.
6- Outer sheath: Heat resistant PVC red or black.
7- Cables are designed and tested to IEC & BS standards.
8- Service Condituons.
9- PEC name to be stamped.
4.9. Outer Covering:
The outer protective covering shall be extruded black PVC compound type (9) in
accordance with the latest issue IEC, BS standards as may be approved.by The
(PEC)) As a protection against termite attack, the outer coverings shall preferably
contain an evenly dispersed mixture of adrian and dieldrin in the ratio of 0.25 each,
by weight of PVC, or other suitable deterrent which shall be stated in the tender for
approved by the PEC.
5. TEST:
During the H.V. test, the discharge inception and extinction voltages shall
be recorded. The extinction voltage shall not be less than 1 .2Uo.
6. CABLE IDENTIFICATIONS:
In order to ascertain the cable lengths, a varnished paper, cellulose acetate or similar
tape bearing lengths in meters shall be applied longitudinally immediately under the
protection outer sheath. The tape shall be nominally 0.13mm thick, 10mm wide and
figures approximately 6.5mm high. Alternatively the length in meters may be
embossed on the outer PVC sheath.
The outer jacket surface of each individual insulated conductor shall be durably
marked throughout its length with the manufacturer's name, conductor size, type of
insulation voltage, rating and year of manufacture.
Cables which consist more than one insulated conductor shall have the outer surface
of individual insulated conductor cables durably marked throughout the cables length
with means of individual phase identification.
7. CABLE LENGTHS:
Where applicable, cable shall be supplied in maximum drum lengths not exceeding
250 meter, No drum shall contain more than one length.
8. INFORMATION TO BE FRNISHED:
The contractor shall furnished sufficient information as given in the schedule (2) of
particulars guarantees, shipping details including drawings showing dimensions
and construction details of the shipping reels and complete catalogue information.
