Yes, Ma’am.
Abstraction
So class, our topic for today is
all about imperative.

Now class, what is imperative? Imperative is a type of

sentence that gives advice
or instructions that
express request or
command.

An imperative sentence
typically begins with the
base form of a verb.
Example:
 Go now!
 Help me!
 Please go to the
store and buy
some milk.
So, an imperative sentence ends
with a period (.) or with an
exclamation point (!).

Did you understand class?

Yes, Ma’am.
Okay class, so there are two
types of imperatives the
POSITIVE and NEGATIVE.

So, what are positive

imperatives? Positive Imperatives
 To form a positive
imperative, use the
base form of the
verb.
Example:
 Cut the rope.
 Read the book.
 Listen!
 Come here.
 Speak English.
We can also use positive
imperatives by using “always”.
Example:
 Always put on your
safety belt.
 Always bring your
umbrella.

So, the second is the negative

Negative Imperatives
imperatives?
 To form a negative
imperative, we use
“do not + base
form of the verb”.
Example:
 Do not come here.
 Do not drink it.
 Don’t lean out of
the window.
 Don’t speak
Spanish in the
English class.
So in negative imperatives we  Don’t sit there.
should use “do not + base form
of the verb”.

Did you understand?

Yes, Ma’am.
