THE PRESENT SIMPLE TENSE - THÌ HIỆN ĐẠI ĐƠN

1. CẤU TRÚC (FORM)

a) Thể khẳng định
- Đối với động từ be (am/is/are)
I am
You/We/They/Huong and Lan,... are
He/She/It/Tên riêng is
Rút gọn: I am -> I’m
You are -> You’re We are -> We’re They are -> They’re
He is -> He’s She is -> She’s It is -> It’s
Ex:
I am (I’m) a student (Tôi là học sinh)
Jane is very beautiful (Jane rất xinh)
- Đối với động từ thường
I/We/You/They/Huong and Lan động từ nguyên thể (verb bare)
He/She/It/Tên riêng verb-s/es
- Ngôi thứ ba số ít, động từ thêm -s hoặc -es (thêm -es sau các động từ tận cùng là o, s, x, z, ch, sh).
- Động từ tận cùng là một phụ âm + y thì đổi thành i rồi thêm -es (try -> tries, study -> studies)
- Động từ tận cùng là một nguyên âm + y, thêm -s (stay -> stays, enjoy -> enjoys)
Ex:
We play volleyball every Wednesday. (Họ chơi bóng chuyền vào mỗi thứ tư)
Alice goes to school by bus. (Alice đi học bằng xe buýt)
She works in the countryside. (Cô ấy làm việc ở nông thôn)

b) Thể phủ định

- Đối với động từ be (am/is/are)
I am not
You/We/They/Huong and Lan,... are not
He/She/It/Tên riêng is not
Rút gọn: am not -> ’m not is not -> isn’t are not -> aren’t
Ex:
I am not (I’m not) a student (Tôi không phải là học sinh)
Jane is not (isn’t) at home. (Jane không có ở nhà)
- Đối với động từ thường
I/We/You/They/Huong and Lan do not (don’t) + động từ nguyên thể
He/She/It/Tên riêng does not (doesn’t) + động từ nguyên thể
Ex:
We do not (don’t) live in the city. (Chúng tôi không sống ở thành phố)
My father does not (doesn’t) drink coffee. (Bố tôi không uống cà phê)

c) Thể nghi vấn

Yes/No
- Đối với động từ be, đem be ra đầu câu
Am I ...?
Are you/we/they/...?
Is she/he/it...?
Ex: Am I wrong? (Tôi nhầm à?)
Are you ready? (Các bạn sẵn sàng chưa)
Trả lời: Yes, S + am/ is/ are. hoặc No, S + am not/ isn’t/ aren’t. 
Are you Dutch? (Bạn có phải người Hà Lan không?)
Yes, I am. (Đúng vậy.)
- Đối với động từ thường, dùng Do/Does ở đầu câu.
Do + I/you/we/they + động từ nguyên thể...?
Does + he/she/it + động từ nguyên thể...?
Ex: Do you know the answer? (Bạn có biết đáp án không?)
Does she go to school by bus? (Cô ấy đi học bằng xe buýt hả?)
Trả lời: Yes, S + do/does. hoặc No, S + don’t/doesn’t 
Do you know the answer?
No, I don’t
Từ để hỏi
- Đối với động từ be
Từ để hỏi + am/ are/ is + (not) + S + …?
Từ để hỏi: What, Where, When, Why, How…
Ex: Where are you from? (Bạn đến từ đâu?)
- Đối với động từ thường
Từ để hỏi + do/ does + (not) + S + V(nguyên thể) +…?
Ex: When does she go to her English class? (Khi nào cô ấy đến lớp học tiếng anh?)

2. CÁCH DÙNG (USE)

a) Thì hiện tại đơn diễn đạt một thói quen hay hành động lặp đi lặp lại trong thời điểm hiện tại
 My brother usually goes to bed at 10 p.m. (Em trai tôi thường đi ngủ vào lúc 10 giờ tối)
 My father always gets up early. (Bố tôi luôn luôn thức dậy sớm)
b) Thì hiện tại đơn diễn tả 1 chân lý, 1 sự thật hiển nhiên  
 The sun rises in the East and sets in the West. (Mặt Trời mọc ở đằng Đông và lặn ở đằng Tây)
 The earth moves around the Sun. (Trái Đất quay xung quanh Mặt Trời)
c) Diễn tả 1 sự việc xảy ra theo thời gian biểu cụ thể, như giờ tàu, máy bay chạy hay một lịnh trình
nào đó.
 The plane takes off at 11a.m. this morning. (Chiếc máy bay cất cánh lúc 11 giờ sáng nay)
 The bus leaves at 9 am tomorrow. (Xe khởi hành lúc 9 giờ sáng mai.)
3. DẤU HIỆN NHẬN BIẾT
a) Trạng từ chỉ tần suất
 Always (luôn luôn)
 usually (thường xuyên)
 often (thường xuyên)
 frequently (thường xuyên)
 sometimes (thỉnh thoảng)
 seldom (hiếm khi), rarely (hiếm khi)
 hardly (hiếm khi)
 never (không bao giờ)
 generally (nhìn chung)
 regularly (thường xuyên)
Ví dụ:
We sometimes go to the beach. (Thỉnh thoảng chúng tôi đi biển.)
I always drink lots of water. (Tôi thường hay uống nhiều nước.)
Ngoài ra, dấu hiệu hiện tại đơn còn có các từ: Every day, every week, every month, every year, every
morning, once a week, twice a week, (mỗi ngày, mỗi tuần, mỗi tháng, mỗi năm, 1 lần một tuần, 2 lần một
tuần,...).
Vị trí của các trạng từ chỉ tần suất trong câu thì hiện tại đơn
Các từ nhận biết thì hiện tại đơn này thường đứng trước động từ thường, đứng sau động từ to be và trợ
động từ (Always, usually, often, sometimes, rarely, seldom,…).

Có 3 quy tắc và cách phát âm s/es cơ bản

 Quy tắc 1. Phát âm là /s/ khi tận cùng từ là âm /t/, /p/, /f/, /k/, /θ/
Lưu ý: Âm /θ/ được ký tự là -th trong tiếng Anh
-gh, -ph thường được đọc là /f/ trong tiếng Anh
 Quy tắc 2. Phát âm là /iz/ khi tận dùng từ là âm -s, -ss, -z, -o, -ge, -ce, -ch, -sh.
 Quy tắc 3. Phát âm là /z/ với các từ còn lại.
