ANALYSIS
 What do you mean by warm-up
exercises?
 Why is it necessary to warm-up?

LESSON PROPER: WARM-UP

EXERCISES
 Warm-up is low-level activity, which
should be completed prior to
stretching and more strenuous
exercise.
 A warm-up gradually revs up your
cardiovascular system by raising your
body temperature and increasing
blood flow to your muscles.
o The warm-up exercise is usually
done by athletes before they
compete in the game, it is one of
the best things to do to make them
more flexible in movement, to avoid
injuries, sore muscles etc.
o This can also help reduce muscle
pain and to lessen the risk of injury.

There is some warm-up, stretches and

exercises that athletes should do to avoid
injuries:
- HIGH KNEE HUG
- HIGH KNEES
- HIGH KNEES LATERALLY
- SPEED SKATER
- HOPSCOTCH
o These exercises are very important

for athletes to reduce the chances
of injury, for them to prepare their
bodies and for them to play better.
It will also help the players maintain
their proper posture, agility and
speed of their movement.
THE IMPORTANCE OF WARMING UP
BEFORE THE ACTIVITY
- To decrease chances of injury
- To increase athlete’s readiness
- Allow them to mentally prepare for the
activity at hand.
- It provides a player with the perfect
opportunity to prepare his/her body either for
the match or training classes properly
o So, overall, the warm-up exercise is
very important for all athletes, in
order to avoid injuries such as
ankle injuries (common injury as it
is called in the game of volleyball, it
happens when a player's foot lands
on another player's foot , Hand
injuries, usually happen especially
during setting and blocking,
Shoulder injuries, this usually
happens during serving, spiking
and blocking, is that like hitting the
ball with too much force.

o TAKE NOTE: When we do warm-up,

it only takes 5-10 minutes only, why?
Because our energy may be
exhausted immediately during the
warm-up, so it is important that we
give it enough time so that we do not
over-use our body and energy.

WARM-UP EXERCISES
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
 Identify what is warm-up exercises in volleyball,
 appreciate the importance of warm-up in volleyball,
 apply the knowledge that has been discuss in this lesson.

On February 23, 2023, Wednesday. At school, in front of my teacher and

classmates, I reported about "Warm-up Exercises", what does warm-up mean and
what are the benefits and importance to people especially to players since the topic
is about the game of volleyball. Before I started to explain my topic, one of my
kagroup played a lively game to keep our classmates alive, I could see that they
enjoyed and were satisfied. Then, I discussed my topic, I asked a few questions to
my classmates and a few answered (thanks to them) after them I just added an
additional explanation to their answer, the warm-up exercise is usually done by
athletes before they compete in the game, it is one of the best things to do to make
them more flexible in movement, to avoid injuries, sore muscles etc. It is a low-level
activity, when we say low level activity it’s like for examples House Cleaning,
mopping, vacuuming, gardening etc. Warm-up can also help reduce muscle pain and
to lessen the risk of injury. It is very importance especially in all athletes, for them to
be able to be more flexible and to be able to get ready in their games. Because our
teacher was in a bit of a rush for time, I was confused and I didn't quite say all the
explanations I had prepared, but it's okay because I know my topic is easy to
understand.
