What is the student learning goal for this lesson idea?

Selected Instructional Software Tool: Apple Podcast

Description of Software: Apple podcasts is an apple audio streaming service for podcasts. It  is the
largest platform and most talked about podcast system. It has a wide variety of shows around the
world. Apple podcasts is the best app for finding, following and listening the millions of music. Apple
music is on every Apple device. Apple began supporting podcasts with iTunes but eventually they
became their own streaming service. I like podcasts because it gives a variety of different voices to
learn from.

☒ Teacher-led: There is no student voice and choice in the activities. Students are guided by the
teacher's direction and expectations. Learning activities are assigned to the student and mostly
practice based.

☐ Student-Led: Students are given voice and choice in the activities. They may select the topic of
learning and/or determine the tool they will use to meet the learning goal. The teacher facilitates
the learning as the students direct their own learning processes.

☒ Problem-based and/or Publishable: Students are solving problems and completing projects to
demonstrate their learning. Additionally, the projects can be shared outside of the classroom.
(Note: This objective could be reached by displaying the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, presenting it to another class, or publishing
it via an outside source.)
Lesson idea implementation:
I will introduce the students to apple Podcast and ask them a general question ( who listen to podcast
or ever heard of a podcast) I will break it down to the students to the students to prepare them how to
properly work apple podcast. I will let the students know they we will be building a class podcast
channel, and everyone will have their own topic to talk about. I will give the students ten minutes to
come up with their topics with their partners or by themselves. Next, I will teach the students how to
use the platform and let them start their podcast production. After the students draft their podcast, we
will come together as a class and add everyone podcast on apple. Finally I will let the students present
their podcast and add it to the class podcast channel.
Managing student learning:  During the process of the assignment, I will make sure the students stay
on track while walking around and giving them time limits for each section of the assignment.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Reflection:

The UDL topic that relates to the assignment is representation and action because the students are
talking action by doing research on their topics to make sure their podcast file is in tact. I chose
representation because the students are making sure their podcast sound and look presentable.

Reflection:
After designing the lesson, I think it will be a great assignment for the students because it teaches
them how to use different platforms other than social media or gaming systems.
