LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 2

(March 18, 2024 W7 D1)

I. Objectives:
 To determine the missing term/s in a given continuous pattern using two attributes (figures
and numbers) with at least 80% accuracy.
 To develop confidence in their problem-solving abilities and appreciation for the patterns in
mathematics. Psychomotor:
 To demonstrate the ability to manipulate figures and numbers effectively to identify missing
terms in a pattern.

II. Subject Matter:

Determining Missing Terms in Continuous Patterns
 References: Online resources
 Materials: board and markers, Pattern cards with missing terms
Figures and numbers for manipulation (e.g., blocks, counters, or digital tools)

A. Daily Routine:
1. Prayer
2. Greeting
3. Checking of Attendance

B. Priming:
1. Recall: Review the previous lesson on identifying patterns in mathematics.
2. Motivation: Share real-world examples where recognizing patterns is essential (e.g., music,
nature, architecture).

C. Activity:
1. Introduction (10 minutes):
 Present students with various patterns involving figures and numbers.
 Discuss the importance of recognizing patterns in mathematics.
 Introduce the concept of determining missing terms in continuous patterns.
2. Guided Practice (25 minutes):
 Provide examples of continuous patterns on the whiteboard.
 Guide students through the process of identifying the missing terms using figures and
numbers.
 Encourage students to articulate their thought processes as they work through each example.
 Provide feedback and correction as needed.

D. Analysis:
1. Discussion (10 minutes):
 Engage students in a discussion about the strategies used to determine missing terms
in patterns.
 Encourage students to share any difficulties they encountered and how they overcame
them.
 Highlight common mistakes and clarify misconceptions.
E. Abstraction:
1. Generalization (10 minutes):
 Summarize the key concepts learned during the lesson.
 Emphasize the importance of paying attention to details and recognizing patterns in
problem-solving.
 Relate the concept of determining missing terms to real-life situations or other
mathematical concepts.
F. Application:
1. Independent Practice (20 minutes):
 Provide worksheets or additional pattern cards for students to practice identifying
missing terms independently.
 Circulate the classroom to provide support and assistance as needed.
 Encourage students to use a variety of strategies and tools to solve the problems.
