LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 2

(March 11, 2024 W6 D1)

I. Objectives:
 Learners will be able to construct squares, rectangles, triangles, circles, half-circles, and
quarter-circles using cut-outs.
 Learners will develop an appreciation for the geometric shapes and their properties.
 Learners will demonstrate fine motor skills in cutting and assembling geometric shapes
accurately.

II. Subject Matter:

Topic: Constructing Geometric Shapes using Cut-outs
 References: Geometry textbooks, online resources
 Materials: Cut-out shapes (squares, rectangles, triangles, circles, half-circles, and quarter-
circles), scissors, glue, chart paper, markers

A. Daily Routine:
1. Prayer: Begin the lesson with a short prayer to create a positive and focused atmosphere.
2. Greeting: Greet the students warmly to establish a positive learning environment.
3. Checking of Attendance: Quickly check the attendance to ensure all students are present.

B. Priming:
1. Recall:
 Review the previous lesson on basic geometric shapes (squares, rectangles, triangles,
and circles) to ensure understanding before moving forward.
2. Motivation:
 Share real-world examples of how these shapes are used in everyday life. Discuss the
importance of understanding and constructing these shapes.
C. Activity:
 Provide each student with cut-out shapes (squares, rectangles, triangles, circles, half-circles,
and quarter-circles).
 Instruct them to:
1. Arrange the cut-outs to form squares and rectangles.
2. Create triangles using the given cut-outs.
3. Assemble circles, half-circles, and quarter circles.
 Encourage creativity and precision in arranging the shapes.
D. Analysis:
 Observe and interact with students during the activity to identify any difficulties or
misconceptions.
 Ask questions to prompt critical thinking about the properties of each shape.

E. Abstraction:
 Discuss the properties of each constructed shape, emphasizing key characteristics.
 Guide students to identify patterns and relationships between the shapes.

Generalization:
 Summarize the main points about constructing geometric shapes using cut-outs.
 Relate the activity to real-life scenarios where these shapes are commonly found.

F. Application:
 Distribute chart paper and ask students to create a collage or scene using the constructed
shapes.
 This application activity allows students to showcase their understanding of the lesson.
