Lesson Plan in Mathematics 2: I. Objectives
Lesson Plan in Mathematics 2: I. Objectives
Department of Education
Regional IX- Zamboanga Peninsula
DIVISION OF ZAMBOANGA SIBUGAY
FIELD OFFICE OF PAYAO
Minundas Elementary School
I. Objectives:
To determine the missing term/s in a given continuous pattern using two attributes (colors
and sizes).
To demonstrate perseverance and confidence in problem-solving tasks related to pattern
recognition.
To manipulate objects to explore and identify patterns based on colors and sizes.
A. Daily Routine:
1. Prayer
2. Greeting
3. Checking of Attendance
B. Priming:
1. Recall: Review previous lessons on patterns and attributes.
2. Motivation: Show examples of real-life patterns involving colors and sizes (e.g., alternating
colors in a quilt, stacking blocks of varying sizes).
C. Activity:
1. Introduction: Explain the concept of continuous patterns using two attributes (colors and
sizes). Provide examples on the board.
2. Guided Practice: Present a series of pattern sequences with missing terms. Guide students
through the process of identifying the missing terms based on colors and sizes. Encourage
discussion and collaboration.
3. Independent Practice: Distribute worksheets or have students work in pairs/small groups to
solve additional pattern problems. Circulate the classroom to provide assistance and feedback
as needed.
D. Analysis:
1. Review: Bring the class together to discuss solutions to the pattern problems. Address any
misconceptions and clarify key concepts.
2. Reflection: Ask students to reflect on their problem-solving strategies and share their thoughts
with the class. Emphasize the importance of perseverance and critical thinking in
mathematics.
E. Abstraction:
1. Generalization: Summarize the key principles learned about identifying missing terms in
continuous patterns with two attributes (colors and sizes). Reinforce the importance of
recognizing patterns in various contexts.
2. Application: Challenge students to create their pattern sequences using colors and sizes. Have
them exchange patterns with a partner to solve.
F. Application:
1. Homework: Assign practice problems or a creative pattern design task for homework.
2. Extension: Provide enrichment activities for students who demonstrate proficiency, such as
exploring more complex pattern sequences or analyzing patterns in nature or art.
