LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 2

(March 14, 2024 W6 D4)

I. Objectives:
 To identify straight lines and curves, flat and curved surfaces in a 3-dimensional object.
 To develop an appreciation for the importance of understanding 3-dimensional shapes in
real-life contexts.
 To demonstrate the ability to manipulate and visualize 3-dimensional objects accurately.

II. Subject Matter:

Topic: Identifying straight lines and curves, flat and curved surfaces in 3-dimensional
objects
 References: Mathematics textbooks, online resources
 Materials: 3-dimensional models, whiteboard, markers, worksheets

A. Daily Routine:
1. Prayer
2. Greeting
3. Checking of Attendance

B. Priming:
1. Recall: Briefly review previous lessons on basic geometry concepts such as lines, angles,
and shapes.
2. Motivation: Show real-life examples of 3-dimensional objects and discuss their relevance
in everyday life, such as buildings, furniture, and household items.

C. Activity:
1. Introduce various 3-dimensional objects (e.g., cubes, spheres, cylinders) to the students.
2. Demonstrate how to identify straight lines and curves, flat and curved surfaces in each
object.
3. Engage students in a hands-on activity where they manipulate and explore different 3-
dimensional objects. Provide guidance and support as needed.
4. Encourage students to discuss and describe the characteristics of each object, focusing on
straight lines, curves, flat surfaces, and curved surfaces.
D. Analysis:
1. Guide students in analyzing the properties of the 3-dimensional objects they explored
during the activity.
2. Facilitate a discussion on the similarities and differences between various objects in terms
of their straight lines, curves, flat surfaces, and curved surfaces.
3. Encourage students to ask questions and clarify any misconceptions they may have.

E. Abstraction:
1. Summarize the key concepts learned during the activity, emphasizing the identification of
straight lines and curves, flat and curved surfaces in 3-dimensional objects.
2. Provide additional examples and demonstrations if necessary to reinforce understanding.

Generalization:
1. Discuss how the concepts learned in this lesson can be applied to real-life situations, such
as architecture, engineering, and design.
2. Encourage students to think critically about the importance of understanding 3-
dimensional shapes in various fields.
F. Application:
1. Distribute worksheets or assignments that require students to identify and analyze the
properties of 3-dimensional objects independently.
2. Provide opportunities for students to apply their knowledge in practical scenarios, such as
building models or solving real-world problems related to geometry.
