LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS 2

(March 21, 2024 W7 D4)

I. Objectives:
 To determine the missing term/s in a given continuous pattern using two attributes (such as
figures, numbers, colors, sizes, and orientations).
 To develop confidence and perseverance in solving pattern-related problems.
 To demonstrate the ability to manipulate and apply the concepts of the pattern by actively
participating in pattern-solving activities.

II. Subject Matter:

Determining Missing Terms in Continuous Patterns
 References: Math textbooks, online resources, worksheets.
 Materials: Whiteboard/markers, pattern cards or worksheets, manipulatives (if needed),
writing materials.

A. Daily Routine:
1. Prayer
2. Greeting
3. Checking of Attendance

B. Priming:
1. Recall: Review previous lessons on identifying patterns and filling missing terms.
2. Motivation: Discuss real-life scenarios where recognizing patterns is useful, such as in
predicting trends, understanding sequences, or in designing artistic patterns.

C. Activity:

1. Introduction to Continuous Patterns:

 Present examples of continuous patterns using figures, numbers, or colors.
 Discuss the concept of continuous patterns and the importance of identifying the rules
governing them.

2. Guided Practice:
 Provide examples of patterns with missing terms.
 Guide students through the process of identifying the attributes and rules of the given
patterns.
 Model how to determine the missing terms step by step.

3. Independent Practice:
 Distribute worksheets or pattern cards to students.
 Encourage students to work individually or in pairs to identify missing terms in
various patterns.
 Circulate the classroom to provide assistance and feedback as needed.
D. Analysis:
1. Review and Discuss:
 Gather students' responses and discuss their approaches to solving the patterns.
 Address any misconceptions and clarify concepts as necessary.

E. Abstraction:
1. Generalization:
 Summarize the key concepts learned about identifying missing terms in continuous
patterns.
 Discuss strategies for recognizing and extending patterns in different contexts.

F. Application:

1. Practical Application:
 Assign homework exercises or additional pattern problems for students to solve
independently.
 Encourage students to look for patterns in everyday life and share their findings with
the class.
