SPECIFICATION – AUTOMATIC WET SPRINKLER SYSTEMS

1.0 GENERAL
This specification contains the minimum design, installation, testing and commissioning
requirements for automatic wet sprinkler systems. The automatic wet sprinkler system is to
assure the safety of the occupants in the building during a fire. The design of the automatic
wet sprinkler system shall conform to this specification and the complete automatic wet
sprinkler system shall be fully compatible to all components supplied.

2.0 REFERENCES

The referenced codes and standards are intended to provide an acceptable level of quality for
materials, products and workmanship. In case of conflict between these standards and the
text of this Specification, the Specification text shall govern.

The latest revision of the referenced codes and standards shall be used as a minimum guide.
In case of conflict, the Contractor shall propose equipment, materials and processes
conforming to one group of codes and standards.

 Health and Safety Conditions

Refer to NFPA 13.

Backflow preventers shall be used where potable water could be contaminated through
siphoning or back pressure from fire water piping.

In the absence of any of the above, best accepted industry practice shall be employed
throughout.

5.0 SUBMITTALS
The Contractor shall submit to MARAFIQ, the following items for review and approval before
commencing the work:
 Product Data
Product data shall include principal dimensions, general construction and material for
each item intended to be furnished and installed.
Manufacturer's catalog data sheets shall be submitted for all sprinkler heads, alarm check
valves and all other accessories and system components.
 Installation Instructions
Submit copies of the manufacturer's installation and maintenance instructions for all
equipment. Include valve data and servicing instructions.
 Shop Drawings
Working plans, prepared according to NFPA 13.
 Submit Coordination Drawings
Superimposed drawings showing location of each sprinkler and all other activities
simultaneously.
 Hydraulic Calculations
The hydraulic calculations for the entire automatic wet sprinkler system shall be by a
computer generated hydraulic calculation program, such as HAS, Elite, or Pipenet.
The calculations shall meet the requirements of NFPA 13 and shall be printed in a
standard NFPA format.
Hydraulic calculations shall be furnished when extending existing automatic wet
sprinkler systems.
 As-Built Drawings
Clearly indicate sprinklers, systems, locations and symbols on the Shop Drawings
and As-built plans.

Clearly indicate valves, alarms and controls locations.


Identify any variation from Contract Drawings.
 Maintenance and Operating Instructions
Submit data conforming to NFPA 13 for maintenance of sprinklers system.
Equipment manufacturer recommended spare parts and tools list.
 Operation and Maintenance Manuals.
 Test Reports
Accurately record and report the methods of testing, times and dates of the test,
witnesses to the test, and the results of the test.
Indicate and interpret test results for compliance with performance requirements in NFPA
13.
Include Contractor's Material and Test Certificate for aboveground and underground
piping.

6.0 QUALITY CONTROL


The Contractor shall be responsible for the quality of work and shall develop and propose
programs and methods of construction and testing to achieve the specified quality to the
approval of MARAFIQ.

The Contractor shall prepare and submit a set of As-Built Drawings and hydraulic calculations
of the system, maintenance and instruction bulletins and the applicable parts of the
Contractor’s material and test certificates covering material and tests certifying that the work
has been completed and tested in accordance with plans and specifications.

6.1 Engineering Responsibility


Preparation of working plans, calculations and field test reports by professional
specialized fire protection engineer.

6.2 Single-Source Responsibility


System components and accessories shall be obtained from one source and a single
manufacturer, as far as possible.

6.3 Product Quality


Products shall be free of defects in materials, fabrication, finish and installation.
All materials and performance shall meet the appropriate NFPA standard.
Each item of equipment shall be capable of performing its function over an extended
period of time with a minimum of attention and maintenance.

All equipment shall be constructed using new materials designs and built in
accordance with the best practices of the industry.
Each item of equipment shall be listed by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and / or
approved by Factory Mutual (FM).
Each major item of equipment shall bear the manufacturer’s name, trademark, serial
number and a UL or FM label.
Any sprinkler that is damaged, painted, or sprayed with any obstructive material shall
not be accepted.

6.4 Electrical Components, Devices and Accessories


Electrical components, devices and accessories shall be UL Listed and/or FM
Approved and shall meet the requirements of NFPA 70 and NFPA 72.

7.0 DESIGN CRITERIA


The design of the fire sprinkler system shall be based on the classification of occupancy as
per NFPA 13 and the Project Specifications.

The fire sprinkler system shall be an automatic wet sprinkler system connected to a water
supply and equipped with firewater sprinklers designed to provide a specific water discharge
and distribution over the protected area.

Backflow preventers shall be used where potable water could be contaminated through
siphoning or back pressure from fire water piping.

The fire sprinkler system shall be designed to avoid undue danger to the lives and safety of its
occupants from a fire.

The minimum and maximum spacing of the fire sprinklers shall be as per NFPA 13.

The system design density and hydraulic calculations shall follow the requirements of NFPA
13 and Project Specifications. The required water supply for each system shall be calculated
back to the source of supply. The required water supply shall include hose allowance as per
NFPA 13.

Sprinkler systems designed by a pipe schedule system shall not be accepted.

The fire protection water supply lines, controlling devices, protective devices, alarm systems,
supervisory devices and related equipment shall be made compatible so that all equipment
shall function together as specified.

The design of the fire sprinkler shall be coordinated with architectural, civil, mechanical and
electrical, design and construction documents, to ascertain the required information, to affect
a properly designed fire protection system for the building construction and occupancy
classification.

The design of fire protection systems shall be complete with all necessary accessories for
proper operation.

For each sprinkler zone, provide a control and fire alarm valve assembly, flow switch, self-
contained test and drain assembly and pressure gage, in accordance with NFPA 13.

System design and installation shall reflect high quality professional work that properly
accounts for practical maintenance concerns and aesthetic concerns, as well as meets the
design requirements.

The system and its components shall be suitably designed to withstand ambient temperature
changes, vibration, humidity, impact, clogging and corrosion.

Components within the protected spaces shall be designed to withstand the elevated
temperatures, which could occur during a fire.

The piping system shall be sized in accordance with a hydraulic calculation technique to
ensure availability of flows and pressures required for correct performance of the system.

Each section or area served by an automatic wet sprinkler system shall be capable of being
isolated by one water supply valve only. The stop valve in each section shall be readily
accessible, and its location clearly and permanently indicated.

Duration of the firewater supply shall meet the requirements of NFPA 13 and Project
Specifications.

7.1 Hydraulic Calculations


The pipe diameters of an automatic wet sprinkler system shall be based on hydraulic
calculations to determine the required pressures and required water flows to the most
remote area. Calculation procedures shall be per NFPA 13 and shall be submitted
for approval.
The fire hose demand shall be included in the hydraulic calculations. The fire hose
demand shall meet the requirements of NFPA 13 and Project Specifications.

7.2 Hydraulic Calculations Coefficient


A Hazen-Williams coefficient of 120 shall be used for hydraulic calculations in
designing the automatic wet sprinkler system, assuming the use of steel piping.

8.0 PRODUCTS
All goods and products covered by these Specifications shall be procured, when available,
from an in-Kingdom manufacturer. Procurement of all goods and products manufactured out-
of-Kingdom must be approved by MARAFIQ. All products, system components and hardware
shall be in compliance with NFPA 13. Only listed materials and devices shall be used in the
installation of automatic wet sprinkler system. Components that do not affect system
operation, such as drain valves and signs, shall not be required to be listed.

System components shall be rated for the maximum working pressure to which they are
exposed, but not less than 12.1 bar (175 psi). System components installed outside, or in the
presence of a corrosive atmosphere, shall be constructed of materials that will resist corrosion
or shall be suitably protected from corrosion.

All products, system components and hardware shall be in compliance with the applicable
NFPA standards and the Project Specifications.

All valves, sprinklers, alarms and any additional fire fighting equipment shall be UL listed
and/or FM approved.

All fire department connections, couplings and thread types shall be fully coordinated and
matched with Local Fire Department requirements. No single thread type or coupling shall be
purchased before confirming and fulfilling Local Fire Department conditions.

8.1 Fire Sprinklers


Fire sprinklers shall be UL Listed and/or FM approved. The fire sprinklers selected
shall be located and positioned for which they were designed for.

8.2 Valves
All valves shall be specifically designed for the Fire Protection Service. All valves
shall meet or exceed NFPA 13; of type, construction and class.
Drain valves and test valves shall be UL listed and/or FM approved.

8.3 Alarm Check Valve


The alarm check valve shall be used in a wet pipe automatic sprinkler fire protection
system. The valve shall be UL listed and/or FM approved.
The alarm valve shall be equipped with a removable front cover assembly. Valve
assembly shall be flanged either ends or combination grooved/flanged ends. The
valve shall be designed for vertical or horizontal installation.

8.4 Gate Valves


Use gate valves for isolation duty. Gate valves shall be UL Listed and/or FM
approved for firewater service.

8.5 Check Valves


Sprinkler riser check valve shall be manufactured with supply side and system side
gauge connections and a main drain outlet in conformance with NFPA 13.
Spring loaded type check valve, when selected shall have stainless-steel spring and
hinge pin; for vertical/horizontal mounting.

Swing type check valve, when selected shall have rubber coated clapper assembly
hinged to a removable access cover for periodic inspection as required in NFPA 25.
All check valves must have non-slamming characteristics.
Check valves shall be UL Listed and/or FM approved for fire protection service.

8.6 Backflow Preventer


If the fire sprinkler system is connected to the public water supply, a backflow
preventer shall be provided to prevent contamination of the public water supply.
All backflow preventers shall be UL listed and / or FM approved, and listed for use in
fire protection service.

8.7 Butterfly Valves


Shall be UL Listed and/or FM Approved for firewater service.

8.8 Pipes, joints and fittings


Piping and fittings used in automatic wet sprinkler systems shall meet or exceed the
requirements of NFPA 13. Pipe and fittings shall meet the requirements of MQ-SP-P-
5002 – PIPING – MATERIAL SPECIFICATION LINE CLASS – PROCESS AND
UTILITY PIPING
Copper pipe and fittings shall not be used.

8.9 Pipe Hangers and Supports


Pipe hangers and supports shall meet or exceed the requirements of NFPA 13 and
MQ-SP-P-5024 – PIPING SUPPORT ELEMENTS.

8.10WATERFLOW ALARMS
Waterflow alarm apparatus shall be listed for fire service.

8.11Waterflow Switches
UL 346 and/or FM Approved for the application in which it is used. Include 2 sets of
single pole double throw (SPDT) circuit micro-switches for isolated alarm and

8.12Pressure Switches
Pressure switches shall be electrical-supervision-type, water-flow switch with
adjustable retarding feature. They shall include SPDT, normally closed contacts and

design that operate on rising pressure and signals water flow. The alarm pressure
switch shall be compatible with system devices.
Pressure switches shall be UL Listed and/or FM Approved for the application in which
it is used.

8.13Valve Supervisory Switches


Valve supervisory switches shall be electrical; SPDT; with normally closed contacts.
They shall include design that signals controlled valve is in other than fully open
position. OS&Y switches shall monitor stem movement and shall be complete with
mounting J-bolts. Switch housing shall be finished in red baked enamel. Switches
shall be UL 753 and/or FM approved for the application in which they are used.
Switch housing shall be finished in red baked enamel.

8.14Fire Department Connection (FDC)


Flush wall mounted or freestanding type, 2-way swivel fittings siamese connection, 65
mm (2½ in.) size. The FDC shall have threads to match Local Fire Department
hardware.
Integral clapper assembly to separate flow between inlets and brass lugged caps and
chains of same material and finish.
Fire department connections shall be designated by a sign having raised letters at
least 25 mm (1 in.) in size, cast on a plate or fitting.
Fire department connection shall be UL Listed and/or FM Approved.

8.15Alarms
Alarms shall be as per NFPA 13.
An alarm unit shall include a listed mechanical alarm, horn, or siren or a listed electric
gong, bell, speaker, horn, or siren.
Outdoor water motor-operated or electrically operated bells shall be weatherproofed
and guarded.
Outdoor alarms attachments shall be listed for outdoor use.

8.16Water Motor Alarm – Mechanical Operated


The water motor alarm shall be a rugged, hydraulically operated outdoor alarm
designed for use with automatic wet sprinkler systems. It shall be a lightweight
impeller type alarm gong, capable of producing very loud sound.
The gong, gong mount and water motor housing shall be fabricated from corrosion
resistant alloys or equivalent. Chrome plated or red enameled gong. Non-lubrication
bearings for long life.

The water motor alarm shall be furnished with an approved Y-strainer. All piping to
water motor-operated devices shall be provided with galvanized or other corrosion-
resistant material acceptable by NFPA 13 and of a size not less than 20 mm (¾ in.).
The water motor alarm shall be UL Listed and / or FM Approved for the application in
which it is used.

8.17Water Motor Alarm - Electrically Operated


Alarm signal shall be 150 mm diameter bell; under dome vibrating type; weatherproof;
cast aluminum guard; red finish.
Piping between the sprinkler system and a pressure actuated alarm-initiating device
shall be galvanized or of nonferrous metal or other approved corrosion-resistant
material of not less than 10 mm (3/8 in.) nominal pipe size.
Rigid metal conduit or intermediate metal conduit shall be provided.

8.18Pressure Gauges
The required pressure gauges shall have a maximum limit not less than twice the
normal system working pressure at the point where installed.
Pressure gauges shall be moisture proof and weather resistant type.
Pressure gauges shall meet or exceed NFPA 13 requirements and are UL Listed
and/or FM Approved for firewater service.

9.0 EXECUTION
All products and equipment shall be installed in accordance with MARAFIQ regulations,
applicable local codes and standards, the manufacturer's written installation instructions and
Project Specifications.

The fire sprinkler system shall be installed in accordance the applicable NFPA standards.

Provisions shall be made to facilitate frequent inspection, testing and maintenance as


described in NFPA 25.

Protect all equipment and materials at all times.

Cover and protect equipment and materials from dirt, water, chemical or mechanical damage.

10.0 INSTALLATION
All materials and equipment used in the installation of the fire protection systems shall be new
and the latest design by the manufacturer.

All materials, valves and devices essential to successful system operation shall be UL Listed
and/or FM approved.

Components that do not affect system performance such as drain piping, drain valves and
signs are not required to be listed.

System components installed outside, or in the presence of a corrosive atmosphere, shall be


constructed of materials that will resist corrosion or be suitably factory protected from
corrosion.

All fire department connection, coupling and thread type shall be fully coordinated and
matched with Local Fire Department requirements.

All valves shall meet or exceed NFPA 13; of type, construction and class.

10.1Wet Pipe Systems


The alarm apparatus for a wet pipe system shall consist of a listed alarm check valve
or other listed waterflow detecting alarm device with the necessary attachments
required giving an alarm.
Paddle-type water flow alarm indicators shall be installed in automatic wet sprinkler
systems only.

10.2Sprinklers
Sprinklers shall be listed for the specific hazard and type of system in which they shall
be used.
Temperature characteristics, temperature ratings, classifications and color coding
shall be in accordance with NFPA 13 and as determined by the particular application
and hazard.
Sprinklers subject to corrosive environments shall be listed as corrosion-resistant.
Fire sprinklers shall be of one manufacturer throughout the building. No mixing of
sprinkler brands shall be permitted.
All sprinklers shall be permanently marked with a manufacturer symbol and model
number, so as to identify unique sprinkler identification for every change in orifice size
or shape, deflector characteristic, pressure rating and thermal sensitivity.
Keep sprinklers with protective caps or bulb shields contained within the caps or
shields during installation.
Take care not to damage the corrosion-resistant coating, when installing corrosion-
resistant sprinklers.
Metal cabinet containing the spare sprinklers shall be located adjacent to the alarm
valve within each building, or as otherwise indicated.

10.3Sprinkler Finishes
Finishes shall be chrome-plated, bronze or factory painted; as required by Project
Specifications.

Use sprinklers with following finishes


a) Upright, Pendent and Sidewall Sprinklers
 In finished spaces exposed to view, sprinkler finish shall be as specified
in Project Specification.
 Rough bronze in unfinished spaces not exposed to view.
 Corrosion-resistant coatings or non-corrosive material where exposed to
corrosive environmental.
b) Sprinkler Escutcheons
 Escutcheons used shall be part of a listed sprinkler assembly.

10.4Sprinkler Guards
Furnish head guards, as required, from the same manufacturer as the sprinkler head.
Wire-cage type, including fastening device for attaching to sprinkler.

10.5Stock of Spare Sprinklers


A supply of spare sprinklers shall be maintained on the premises so that any
sprinklers that have operated or been damaged in any way can be promptly replaced.
The number and types of extra sprinkler heads shall be as specified in NFPA 13.
Provide a minimum of 2 wrenches of each sprinkler type used.

10.6Cabinets
Provide a separate cabinet for each type of sprinkler head; and a sprinkler head
wrench on the project.

10.7Piping
Installed piping, valves and fittings shall meet or exceed the requirements of NFPA 13
and Project Specifications.
Make connections between underground and above-ground piping using an approved
transition piece strapped or fastened to prevent separation.
Do not extend water supply connection into a building or through a building wall
unless such connection is under the control of an outside listed indicating valve or an
inside listed indicating valve located near the outside wall of the building.
Close pipe openings with caps or plugs during installation.
Use pipes, fittings and hangers that resist corrosion; or apply a protective coating to
all unprotected exposed surfaces of the sprinkler system, where corrosive conditions
exist due to moisture or fumes from corrosive chemicals or both.

10.8Hanging, Bracing and Restraint of System Piping


Installation of hangers, hanger rods, supports and fasteners shall be in accordance
with the requirements of NFPA 13 and Project Specifications.

10.9Isolation Valves
At least one listed indicating valve shall be installed in each source of water supply.
Locate all control valves where they shall be readily accessible and free of
obstructions.
Install a valve at the base of each riser.
Provide access doors or panels where control or drain valves are located behind
plaster or gypsum walls or ceilings as necessary. Access and signage shall be
obvious.

10.10 Check Valves


Install a check valve where there shall be more than one source of water supply, in
each connection.

10.11 Backflow Prevention


Install a listed backflow prevention device where public or potable water supplies
shall be connected with fire protection system.

10.12 Valve Supervisory Switches


Valve supervisory switches shall be used to signal the operation of an isolation valve.
OS&Y switches shall monitor stem movement and shall be complete with mounting J-
bolts
Supervisory switches shall be on valves connected to the water supply, sectional
control and isolation valves and other valves supplying water to fire sprinklers.
Mount switch so as not to interfere with normal operation of the valve.

10.13 Pipe Sleeves


Sleeves shall be provided where piping passes through walls, floors, roofs, beams
and partitions. Sleeves shall be of sufficient length to pass through entire thickness of
walls, floors, roofs and partitions.
Sleeves shall be secured in proper position and location.
Size and install so that sprinkler pipes are not stressed.
Sleeves shall be installed prior to construction of walls or pouring of concrete.

Sleeves for underground pipe shall have mechanical rubber seals and be watertight.

10.14 Escutcheon Plates


One piece or split hinge type metal plates shall be provided for piping passing
through floors, walls and ceilings in exposed areas.
Plates shall be securely anchored in place with setscrews or other approved positive
means.

10.15 Pressure Gauge


Provide a pressure gauge at each flow alarm switch location, alarm check valve or
system riser check valve where such devices are present, at the top of each sprinkler
or standpipe riser, at each main drain connection, on the suction and discharge of the
fire pump and where required.

10.16 System or Main Drain


A drain valve shall be furnished for each alarm check valve. Provision shall be made
to properly drain all parts of the automatic wet sprinkler systems to a safe location.
Drain connections shall be sized in accordance to NFPA 13.
Install all sprinkler pipe and fittings so that the system can be drained.
Do not make direct interconnections between sprinkler drains and sewers.
Locate all drain valves where they shall be readily accessible and free of
obstructions. Provide access doors or panels where drain valves are located behind
plaster or gypsum walls or ceilings as necessary. Access and signage shall be
obvious.

10.17 Inspector Test Connection


Install test connections sized and located in accordance with NFPA 13.
Test connections shall be provided approximately 2m above the floor for each
sprinkler system or portion of each sprinkler system equipped with an alarm device
and located at the hydraulically most remote part.

10.18 Fire Department Connection


A system fire department connection shall be provided on the system riser in
accordance with NFPA. 13. Install, locate, arrange and size fire department
connection as specified in NFPA 13.
Install fire department connection in an area accessible for the first response unit.
Install mechanical sleeve seal at pipe penetration in outside walls.

10.19 Sprinkler Alarms, Waterflow and Controls


The water motor alarm shall only be mounted to a rigid wall surface, which will not
permit the striker/gong mount to loosen and fall out of alignment.
Electrically operated alarm attachments shall form a part of an auxiliary, central
station, local protective, proprietary, or remote station signaling system shall be
installed in accordance with NFPA 70 and NFPA 72.
Alarms shall be mounted on the outside of the outer walls of each building, at a
location shown on the Drawings or as directed by MARAFIQ.
All alarm apparatus shall be located and installed such that all parts are accessible
for inspection, removal and repair; and shall be adequately supported.
Pressure gauges shall be provided in the alarm valve trim to indicate the water
pressure immediately upstream and downstream of the alarm valve. The gauges
shall be provided with an isolation valve for maintenance purposes.
A water flow pressure switch shall be provided in the alarm valve trim to initiate an
alarm during a fire condition. This switch shall be provided with an isolation valve to
allow maintenance to remove the device without affecting the system.
In order to minimize fluctuations on the supply side of the alarm valve a variable type
trim with retard chamber shall be used, where variable pressure is anticipated.

10.20 Supervisory Switches


Provide a supervisory switch that is connected to the fire alarm system for each
indicating sprinkler system riser, sprinkler zone, standpipe system riser, main service
entrance, PIV (post indicator valve), control valve.

10.21 Waterflow Switches


Provide a waterflow switch for each sprinkler zone, each standpipe riser and where
indicated on drawings.
Install waterflow switch and adjacent valves in easily accessible locations.
Paddle-type waterflow alarm indicators shall be installed in wet systems only.

10.22 Identification Signs


Provide identification signs for all system and water supply control valves, sectional
valves, riser control valves, drain valves, test and drain connections and alarm
devices with securely attached identification signs in accordance with NFPA 13.
Provide identification signs at each valve to indicate its function and what it controls.
Provide hydraulic design information signage as required by NFPA 13.
Identification signs shall be permanently marked weatherproof metal sign secured
with corrosion-resistant wire, chain, or other approved means.

Signs shall be placed at the alarm valve or wet pipe valve supplying the
corresponding hydraulically designed area.
Each fire department connection to sprinkler systems shall be designated by a sign
having raised or engraved letters at least 25 mm (1 in.) in height on plate or fitting
reading service design.
The installation of signs required by NFPA 13 shall be verified.

11.0 PAINTING
Sprinklers shall only be painted by the sprinkler manufacturer.

Painting of all exposed pipe, fittings and equipment shall be per MARAFIQ Painting
Specification.

12.0 AFTER INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS

12.1Protection of Piping and Equipment Against Damage


Protect piping as per NFPA 13. Protect all equipment materials at all times.
Close pipe openings with caps or plugs during installation. Cover and protect
equipment materials from dirt, water, chemical or mechanical damage.

13.0 COORDINATION
Installation of sprinklers shall be coordinated with other work including duct and electric fixture
installation to prevent sprinkler obstructions.

Coordinate the location, signage, keying and access of fire sprinkler shutoff and zone valves
with MARAFIQ.

Coordinate location of each sprinkler head with reflected ceiling plan, including lighting and
diffuser/grille layout.

Coordinate location of drains shown on plumbing drawings with requirements of fire sprinkler
system.

14.0 START-UP AND INITIAL OPERATION

14.1Pipe Cleaning and Flushing


Flushing of piping shall be in accordance with NFPA 13. Start flushing at the highest
point in the system to lowest drain point. All portions of the system shall be back-
flushed. Flushing water shall be directed such that it will not cause accidental
damage to property or danger to persons.
Make provision for the disposal of flushing water.
Clean exterior of pipe prior to painting.

15.0 TESTING
All new fire protection systems shall be tested prior to the occupancy of the building or the
area the system is protecting.

Testing of the fire protection systems shall be in accordance with NFPA 13, 25, and Project
Specifications.

Any or all of the system component or portion which fail the specified tests shall be retested
after corrective measures have been taken.

All tests shall be witnessed by MARAFIQ representative.

15.1Concealed Work
Concealed work (including underground) shall be tested and approval obtained from
MARAFIQ prior to covering.

16.0 DELIVERY, HANDLING AND STORAGE


The Contractor shall deliver, handle and store equipment and material units in accordance
with Project Specifications.

All products shall be inspected at time of delivery for damage and for compliance with
specifications.

All products shall be handled and stored as recommended by the manufacturer.

Sprinklers must be handled with care.

Sprinklers shall be delivered in their original packages, containers or bundles bearing the
brand name and the name of the material.

Sprinklers shall be stored in a cool, dry place.

Pipe, fittings, valves, alarm valves and sprinkler heads shall be stored with open ends sealed
until removed for installation.

Materials shall be protected from weather, soil; and damage during delivery, storage and
construction.

Any products that are damaged or found not to be in accordance with the specifications shall
be immediately replaced.

17.0 CERTIFICATION

The Contractor shall prepare and submit a set of As-built Drawings and hydraulic calculations
of the system, maintenance and instruction bulletins, and the applicable parts of the
Contractor’s material and test certificates covering material and tests certifying that the work
has been completed and tested in accordance with plans and specifications.
