SPECIFICATION –AUTOMATIC WATER MIST FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEMS

1.0 GENERAL
This specification contains the minimum design, installation, testing and commissioning
requirements for Automatic Water Mist Fire Protection Systems. The Automatic Water Mist
Fire Protection System is to assure the safety of the occupants in the building during a fire.
The design of the Automatic Water Mist Fire Protection System shall conform to this
specification and the complete Automatic Water Mist Fire Protection System shall be fully
compatible to all components supplied.

2.0 REFERENCES
The referenced codes and standards are intended to provide an acceptable level of quality for
materials, products and workmanship. In case of conflict between these standards and the
text of this Specification, the Specification text shall govern.
The latest revision of the referenced codes and standards shall be used as a minimum guide.
In case of conflict, the Contractor shall propose equipment, materials and processes
conforming to one group of codes and standards.

4.0 HEALTH AND SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS


All works undertaken in relation to this Specification are to be completed in full compliance
with the respective health and safety requirements established by the following:

Refer to NFPA 750.

Backflow preventers shall be used where potable water could be contaminated through
siphoning or back pressure from fire water piping.
In the absence of any of the above, best accepted industry practice shall be employed
throughout.

5.0 SUBMITTALS
The Contractor shall submit the following items for review and approval before commencing
the work:

 Product Data
Product data shall include principal dimensions, general construction and material for
each item intended to be furnished and installed.
Manufacturer's catalog data sheets shall be submitted for all nozzles, valves and all other
accessories and system components.
 Installation Instructions
Submit copies of the manufacturer's installation and maintenance instructions for all
equipment. Include valve data and servicing instructions.
 Shop Drawings
Working plans, prepared according to NFPA 750.
 Submit Coordination Drawings
 Hydraulic Calculations
The hydraulic calculations for the entire mist system shall be by a computer generated
hydraulic calculation program, such as HAS, Elite, or Pipenet. The calculations shall
meet the requirements of NFPA 750.
 As-Built Drawings
Clearly indicate nozzles, systems, locations and symbols on the Shop Drawings and As-
built plans.
Clearly indicate valves, alarms and controls locations.
Identify any variation from Contract Drawings.
 Maintenance and Operating Instructions
Submit data conforming to NFPA 750 for maintenance of a mist system.
Equipment manufacturer recommended spare parts and tools list.
 Operation and Maintenance Manuals
 Test Reports
Accurately record and report the methods of testing, times and dates of the test,
witnesses to the test, and the results of the test.
Indicate and interpret test results for compliance with performance requirements in NFPA
750.

6.0 QUALITY CONTROL


The Contractor shall be responsible for the quality of work and shall develop and propose
programs and methods of construction and testing to achieve the specified quality to the
approval of MARAFIQ.
The Contractor shall prepare and submit a set of As-Built Drawings and hydraulic calculations
of the system, maintenance and instruction bulletins and the applicable parts of the

Contractor’s material and test certificates covering material and tests certifying that the work
has been completed and tested in accordance with plans and specifications.

6.1 Engineering Responsibility


Preparation of working plans, calculations and field test reports by professional
specialized fire protection engineer.

6.2 Single-Source Responsibility


System components and accessories shall be obtained from one source and a single
manufacturer, as far as possible.

6.3 Product Quality


Products shall be free of defects in materials, fabrication, finish and installation.
All materials and performance shall meet the appropriate NFPA standard.
All equipment shall be constructed using new materials designs and built in
accordance with the best practices of the industry.
Each item of equipment shall be listed by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and / or
approved by Factory Mutual (FM).
Each major item of equipment shall bear the manufacturer’s name, trademark, serial
number and a UL or FM label.
Any nozzles that is damaged, painted, or sprayed with any obstructive material shall
not be accepted.

6.4 Electrical Components, Devices and Accessories


Electrical components, devices and accessories shall be UL Listed and/or FM
Approved and shall meet the requirements of NFPA 70 and NFPA 72.

7.0 SYSTEM TYPES

7.1 System Operation Method


The operation of the mist system shall be one of the following:
 Deluge system

 Dry-pipe system

 Preaction system

 Wet-pipe system

Refer to NFPA 13 and Section 2.1 of this specification for the MARAFIQ Specification
detailing the requirements of each of the system type listed above.

7.2 Operating Pressure


The operation pressure of the mist system shall be one of the following:
 Low-pressure system

The water mist distribution system is design to pressures of 12.1 bar (175 psi) or
less.

 Intermediate-pressure system
The water mist distribution system is designed to pressures greater than 12.1
bar (175 psi) but less than 34.5 bar (500 psi).

 High-pressure system
The water mist distribution system is designed to pressures greater than 34.5
bar (500 psi).

7.3 Application
A mist system shall be applied as one of the following:
 Local application
This configuration is used to protect a specific hazard or object.

 Total compartment application


This type of system provides protection to all fire hazards and all areas in a
compartment. The open nozzles are positioned in a grid so that water mist
discharges approximately uniformly throughout the entire volume.

 Zoned application
This type of system is configured to discharge mist from portions of a larger
system as required to control fire in a specific part of a compartment. It would
be considered, for example, in circumstances where the water demand for a
total compartment system, would be beyond the capability of the water supply.

8.0 DESIGN CRITERIA - GENERAL


The mist system shall be automatically and manually activated, connected to a water supply
and equipped with nozzles designed to provide a specific water discharge and distribution
over the protected area.
Backflow preventers shall be used where potable water could be contaminated through
siphoning or back pressure from fire water piping.
The water quality for the water mist system must be at least equivalent to potable water or
natural seawater with respect to particulates and dissolved minerals.
The mist system shall be designed to avoid undue danger to the lives and safety of its
occupants from a fire.
Mist systems designed by a pipe schedule system shall not be accepted.
The fire protection water supply lines, controlling devices, protective devices, alarm systems,
supervisory devices and related equipment shall be made compatible so that all equipment
shall function together as specified.

The design of the mist system shall be complete with all necessary accessories for proper
operation.
Nozzles and piping shall not prevent access to the protected equipment or exposure surface
for routine maintenance.
Water mist systems shall not be used for direct application to liquefied gases at cryogenic
temperatures (such as liquefied natural gas).
System design and installation shall reflect high quality professional work that properly
accounts for practical maintenance concerns and aesthetic concerns, as well as meets the
design requirements.
The system and its components shall be suitably designed to withstand ambient temperature
changes, vibration, humidity, impact, clogging and corrosion.
The piping system shall be sized in accordance with a hydraulic calculation technique to
ensure availability of flows and pressures required for correct performance of the system.
Each section or area served by a mist system shall be capable of being isolated by one water
supply valve only. The stop valve in each section shall be readily accessible, and its location
clearly and permanently indicated.
All overhead piping shall be well supported and fixed to prevent deflection and vibrations.
In all cases a detailed layout shall be made of the equipment and areas to be protected on
which the arrangement of the nozzles shall be shown.
Duration of the firewater supply shall meet the requirements of NFPA 750 and Project
Specifications.

8.1 Hydraulic Calculations


The pipe diameters of a mist system shall be based on hydraulic calculations to
determine the required pressures and required water flows to the nonautomatic,
automatic, and hybrid nozzles. Calculation procedures shall be per NFPA 750 and
shall be submitted for approval.
Hazen-Williams calculation method shall be used for mist systems which the working
pressure does not exceed 175 psi (12 bar) and having no additives in the water.
Darcy-Weisbach calculation method shall be used for mist systems which the working
pressure exceeds 175 psi (12 bar) and/or has additives in the water.

9.0 PRODUCTS
All goods and products covered by these Specifications shall be procured, when available,
from an in-Kingdom manufacturer. Procurement of all goods and products manufactured out-
of-Kingdom must be approved by MARAFIQ. All products, system components and hardware
shall be in compliance with NFPA 750. Only listed materials and devices shall be used in the
installation of a mist system.
All products, system components and hardware shall be in compliance with the applicable
NFPA standards and the Project Specifications.
All valves, nozzles, alarms and any additional fire fighting equipment shall be UL listed and/or
FM approved.

9.1 Nozzles - General


Nozzles shall be UL Listed and/or FM approved. The nozzles selected shall be
located and positioned for which they were designed for.
Nozzles shall be permanently marked for identification, as per the NFPA 17.
All nozzles shall be selected to provide maximum effective spray coverage. Reach of
the spray pattern shall not be greatly affected by moderate wind conditions and shall
be sufficient to ensure water impingement on the object being protected.
Water distribution within the nozzle discharge pattern shall be uniform; hollow-cone
patterns shall not be used.
The pattern shall be reasonably unaffected by changes in water flowing pressure
within the anticipated pressure range.
The selection of the type and size of spray nozzles shall be made with proper
consideration given to factors such as discharge characteristics, physical character of
the hazard involved, ambient conditions, material likely to be burning, and the design
objectives of the system. Mist system nozzles shall be permitted to be placed in any
position, within its listing limitations, necessary to obtain proper coverage of the
protected area.

9.1.1 Open Nozzles


Open nozzles shall be provided with blow-out caps to ensure unobstructed
opening upon system operation.

9.1.2 Thermally Activated Nozzles


Thermally activated nozzles shall be used for all mist system which requires
only the nozzles in the fire area to be activated.
Temperature characteristics, temperature ratings, classifications and color
coding shall be in accordance with NFPA 750.

9.2 Control Panel


The control panel shall be UL listed and/or FM approved, and complies with the
requirements of NFPA 17 and NFPA 72.
The control panel shall be a field programmable conventional panel with integral
battery stand-by power. The control panel shall be approved for use as a releasing
device and for performing all the functions necessary to operate the Water Mist
system.
The control panel shall include a self contained 24 VDC emergency power supply
including a battery charger and batteries.
AC power failure shall be followed by automatic transfer to the emergency storage
batteries without triggering an alarm. Once power has returned, batteries shall be
recharged within twenty-four (24) hours.

9.3 Manual Release Stations


Manual release station(s) shall be UL listed and/or FM approved, and complies with
the requirements of NFPA 17 and NFPA 72.

9.4 Pressurized Water Storage Cylinders


Water storage cylinders shall be designed to maintain the water for the mist system.
The quantity of cylinders shall be based on the water requirements for the mist
system, in addition to the reserve water supply.
Cylinders shall be floor mounted and suitably supported on steel rack for each bank
of cylinders, and shall have facilities for convenient individual servicing.
9.5 Pressurized Gas Storage Cylinders
Gas storage cylinders shall be designed to the requirements of NFPA 750.
Cylinders shall be floor mounted and suitably supported on steel rack for each bank
of cylinders, and shall have facilities for convenient individual servicing.

9.6 Valves
All valves shall be specifically designed for the Fire Protection Service. All valves
shall meet NFPA 750.
All valves shall be UL listed and/or FM approved.
Drain valves and test valves shall be UL listed and/or FM approved.

9.7 Gate Valves


Use gate valves for isolation duty. Gate valves shall be UL Listed and/or FM
approved for firewater service.

9.8 Check Valves


Check valves shall be manufactured with supply side and system side gauge
connections and a main drain outlet in conformance with NFPA 13.
Spring loaded type check valve, when selected shall have stainless-steel spring and
hinge pin; for vertical/horizontal mounting.
Swing type check valve, when selected shall have rubber coated clapper assembly
hinged to a removable access cover for periodic inspection as required in NFPA 25.
All check valves must have non-slamming characteristics.
Check valves shall be UL Listed and/or FM approved for fire protection service.

9.9 Backflow Preventer


If the fire sprinkler system is connected to the public water supply, a backflow
preventer shall be provided to prevent contamination of the public water supply.
All backflow preventers shall be UL listed and / or FM approved, and listed for use in
fire protection service.

9.10 Strainers
Main pipeline strainers shall be provided for all systems where the water is likely to
contain obstructive material.

The strainer shall be located immediately upstream of the actuation valve. The
strainer shall be of a type that can be cleaned while in service and shall be listed for
fire service.
Pipeline strainers shall be specifically listed for use in firewater supply connections.
Strainers shall be capable of removing from the water all solids which may obstruct
the spray nozzles. Mainline pipeline strainers shall be installed so as to be accessible
for flushing or cleaning.

9.11 Pipes, joints and fittings


Piping and fittings used for a mist system shall be stainless steel and shall meet the
requirements of NFPA 750.
Copper pipe and fittings shall not be used.

9.12 Pipe Hangers and Supports


Pipe hangers and supports shall meet the requirements of NFPA 750 and MQ-SP-P-
5024 – PIPING SUPPORT ELEMENTS.

9.13 Pressure Switches


Pressure switches shall be electrical-supervision-type, water-flow switch with
adjustable retarding feature. They shall include SPDT, normally closed contacts and
design that operate on rising pressure and signals water flow. The alarm pressure
switch shall be compatible with system devices.
Pressure switches shall be UL Listed and/or FM Approved for the application in which
it is used.

9.14 Valve Supervisory Switches


Valve supervisory switches shall be electrical; SPDT; with normally closed contacts.
They shall include design that signals controlled valve is in other than fully open
position. OS&Y switches shall monitor stem movement and shall be complete with
mounting J-bolts. Switch housing shall be finished in red baked enamel. Switches
shall be UL 753 and/or FM approved for the application in which they are used.
Switch housing shall be finished in red baked enamel.

9.15 Fire Department Connection (FDC)


Flush wall mounted or freestanding type, 2-way swivel fittings siamese connection, 65
mm (2½ in.) size. The FDC shall have threads to match Local Fire Department
hardware.
Integral clapper assembly to separate flow between inlets and brass lugged caps and
chains of same material and finish.
Fire department connections shall be designated by a sign having raised letters at
least 25 mm (1 in.) in size, cast on a plate or fitting.
Fire department connection shall be UL Listed and/or FM Approved.

9.16 Alarms
Alarms shall be as per NFPA.

An alarm unit shall include a listed mechanical alarm, horn, or siren or a listed electric
gong, bell, speaker, horn, or siren.
Outdoor water motor-operated or electrically operated bells shall be weatherproofed
and guarded.
Outdoor alarms attachments shall be listed for outdoor use.

9.17 Water Motor Alarm – Mechanical Operated


The water motor alarm shall be a rugged, hydraulically operated outdoor alarm
designed for use with automatic wet sprinkler systems. It shall be a lightweight
impeller type alarm gong, capable of producing very loud sound.
The gong, gong mount and water motor housing shall be fabricated from corrosion
resistant alloys or equivalent. Chrome plated or red enameled gong. Non-lubrication
bearings for long life.
The water motor alarm shall be furnished with an approved Y-strainer. All piping to
water motor-operated devices shall be provided with galvanized or other corrosion-
resistant material acceptable by NFPA 13 and of a size not less than 20 mm (¾ in.).
The water motor alarm shall be UL Listed and / or FM Approved for the application in
which it is used.

9.18 Water Motor Alarm - Electrically Operated


Alarm signal shall be 150 mm diameter bell; under dome vibrating type; weatherproof;
cast aluminum guard; red finish.
Piping between the sprinkler system and a pressure actuated alarm-initiating device
shall be galvanized or of nonferrous metal or other approved corrosion-resistant
material of not less than 10 mm (3/8 in.) nominal pipe size.
Rigid metal conduit or intermediate metal conduit shall be provided.
The water motor alarm shall be UL Listed and / or FM Approved for the application in
which it is used.

9.19 Waterflow Switches


UL 346 and/or FM Approved for the application in which it is used. Include 2 sets of
single pole double throw (SPDT) circuit micro-switches for isolated alarm and
auxiliary contacts.

9.20 Pressure Gauges


The required pressure gauges shall have a maximum limit not less than twice the
normal system working pressure at the point where installed.
Pressure gauges shall be moisture proof and weather resistant type.
Pressure gauges shall meet NFPA 750 requirements and are UL Listed and/or FM
Approved for firewater service.

10.0 EXECUTION
All products and equipment shall be installed in accordance with MARAFIQ regulations,
applicable local codes and standards, the manufacturer's written installation instructions and
Project Specifications.
The fire mist system shall be installed in accordance the applicable NFPA standards.
Provisions shall be made to facilitate frequent inspection, testing and maintenance as
described in NFPA 25.
10.1 Protection of Piping and Equipment
Protect all equipment and materials at all times.
Cover and protect equipment and materials from dirt, water, chemical or mechanical
damage.
Close pipe openings with caps or plugs during installation. Cover and protect
equipment materials from dirt, water, chemical or mechanical damage.

11.0 INSTALLATION
All materials and equipment used in the installation of the fire protection systems shall be new
and the latest design by the manufacturer.
All materials, valves and devices essential to successful system operation shall be UL Listed
and/or FM approved.
System components installed outside, or in the presence of a corrosive atmosphere, shall be
constructed of materials that will resist corrosion or be suitably factory protected from
corrosion.

11.1 Nozzles
Nozzles shall be listed for the specific hazard, flow rate, coverage area and type of
system in which they shall be used.
Nozzles subject to corrosive environments shall be listed as corrosion-resistant.
Nozzles shall be of one manufacturer throughout the mist system. No mixing of
nozzle brands shall be permitted.
All nozzles shall be permanently marked with a manufacturer symbol and model
number, so as to identify unique nozzle identification for every change in orifice size
or shape, deflector characteristic, pressure rating and thermal sensitivity.
Take care not to damage the corrosion-resistant coating, when installing corrosion-
resistant nozzles.
Nozzles shall only be painted by the sprinkler manufacturer.

11.2 Open Nozzles


Open nozzles shall be used for all mist system which require all nozzles operate
when the mist system is activated.

11.3 Thermally Activated Nozzles


Thermally activated nozzles shall be used for all mist system which requires only the
nozzles in the fire area to be activated.
Temperature characteristics, temperature ratings, classifications and color coding
shall be in accordance with NFPA 750.

11.4 Stock of Spare Nozzles


A supply of spare nozzles shall be provided. The amount of spare nozzles shall meet
the requirements of NFPA 750.
Provide a minimum of 2 wrenches of each nozzle type used.

11.5 Spare Nozzle Cabinet


Provide a spare nozzle cabinet for the spare nozzles and wrenches.
11.6 Power source
The primary source of energy for the operation and control of the system shall have
the capacity for intended service and shall be reliable.
In the event of a primary power failure, the control panel shall have battery backup to
support the entire system for 24 hours and then perform an alarm sequence for the
maximum discharge time for the longest system discharge plus at least 10 minutes
extra. A charger shall be provided to recover the batteries in 48 hours from a fully
discharge condition. Standby batteries shall be of the sealed, lead acid type.
11.7 Control Panel
The Control Panel shall be installed at a location near to the entrance to facilitate
easy access. Enclosure shall permit front access only.
The control panel shall provide centralized monitoring and control of the fire
detectors, local release devices, abort switches, alarm appliances, and solenoid
valves. On receiving a fire signal from fire detectors or a local release device, the
control panel shall activate the solenoid valves and alarms.
The control panel shall be UL listed and/or FM approved, and complies with the
requirements of NFPA 750 and NFPA 72.

11.8 Valves
All valves shall be located where readily accessible and free of obstructions.
Access and signage shall be obvious.

11.9 Isolation Valves


At least one listed indicating valve shall be installed at each source of water supply.
Locate all control valves where they shall be readily accessible and free of
obstructions.
Provide access doors or panels where control or drain valves are located behind
plaster or gypsum walls or ceilings as necessary. Access and signage shall be
obvious.

11.10 Check Valves


Install a check valve where there shall be more than one source of water supply, in
each connection.

11.11 Backflow Prevention


Install a listed backflow prevention device where public or potable water supplies
shall be connected with fire protection system.

11.12 Strainers

integral strainers for nozzles shall be capable of removing from the water all solids of
sufficient size to obstruct the nozzles they serve.

11.13 Valve Supervisory Switches


Valve supervisory switches shall be used to signal the operation of an isolation valve.
OS&Y switches shall monitor stem movement and shall be complete with mounting J-
bolts
Supervisory switches shall be on valves connected to the water supply, sectional
control and isolation valves and other valves supplying water to the mist system.
Mount switch so as not to interfere with normal operation of the valve.

11.14 Piping
Installed piping, valves and fittings shall meet the requirements of NFPA 750 and
Project Specifications.
Close pipe openings with caps or plugs during installation.
Use pipes, fittings and hangers that resist corrosion; or apply a protective coating to
all unprotected exposed surfaces of the mist system, where corrosive conditions exist
due to moisture or fumes from corrosive chemicals or both.

11.15 Hanging, Bracing and Restraint of System Piping


Installation of hangers, hanger rods, supports and fasteners shall be in accordance
with the requirements of NFPA 750 and Project Specifications.
Powder-driven fasteners shall not be used where systems are required to be
protected against earthquakes.

11.16 Pipe Sleeves


Sleeves shall be provided where piping passes through walls, floors, roofs, beams
and partitions. Sleeves shall be of sufficient length to pass through entire thickness of
walls, floors, roofs and partitions.
Sleeves shall be secured in proper position and location.
Size and install so that system pipes are not stressed.
Sleeves shall be installed prior to construction of walls or pouring of concrete.
Sleeves for underground pipe shall have mechanical rubber seals and be watertight.

11.17 Escutcheon Plates


One piece or split hinge type metal plates shall be provided for piping passing
through floors, walls and ceilings in exposed areas.
Plates shall be securely anchored in place with setscrews or other approved positive
means.

11.18 Pressure Gauge


Provide a pressure gauge at each flow alarm switch location, and as required by
NFPA 750.

11.19 System or Main Drain


A drain valve shall be furnished. Provision shall be made to properly drain all parts of
the mist system to a safe location.
Drain connections shall be sized in accordance to NFPA 13.
Install all pipe and fittings so that the system can be drained.
Locate all drain valves where they shall be readily accessible and free of
obstructions. Provide access doors or panels where drain valves are located behind
plaster or gypsum walls or ceilings as necessary. Access and signage shall be
obvious.

11.20 Inspector Test Connection


Install test connections sized and located in accordance with NFPA 13.
Test connections shall be provided approximately 2m above the floor for each mist
system equipped with an alarm device and located at the hydraulically most remote
part.

11.21 Fire Department Connection


A system fire department connection shall be provided on the system riser in
accordance with NFPA. 750. Install, locate, arrange and size fire department
connection as specified in NFPA 750.
Install fire department connection in an area accessible for the first response unit.
Install mechanical sleeve seal at pipe penetration in outside walls.

11.22 Sprinkler Alarms, Waterflow and Controls


The water motor alarm shall only be mounted to a rigid wall surface, which will not
permit the striker/gong mount to loosen and fall out of alignment.
Electrically operated alarm attachments shall form a part of an auxiliary, central
station, local protective, proprietary, or remote station signaling system shall be
installed in accordance with NFPA 70 and NFPA 72.
Alarms shall be mounted on the outside of the outer walls of each building.
All alarm apparatus shall be located and installed such that all parts are accessible
for inspection, removal and repair; and shall be adequately supported.
A water flow pressure switch shall be provided in the alarm valve trim to initiate an
alarm during a fire condition. This switch shall be provided with an isolation valve to
allow maintenance to remove the device without affecting the system.

11.23 Supervisory Switches


Provide a supervisory switch that is connected to the fire alarm system for each
indicating isolation valve.

11.24 Waterflow Switches


Provide a waterflow switch for each mist system zone.
Install waterflow switch and adjacent valves in easily accessible locations.

11.25 Identification Signs


Provide identification signs for all system and water supply control valves, sectional
valves, riser control valves, drain valves, test and drain connections and alarm
devices with securely attached identification signs in accordance with NFPA 750.
Provide identification signs at each valve to indicate its function and what it controls.
Provide hydraulic design information signage as required by NFPA 750.
Identification signs shall be permanently marked weatherproof metal sign secured
with corrosion-resistant wire, chain, or other approved means.

12.0 COORDINATION
Installation of nozzles shall be coordinated to prevent nozzle obstructions.
Coordinate the location, signage, keying and access of mist system isolation valves.

13.0 PIPE CLEANING AND FLUSHING


Flushing of piping shall be in accordance with NFPA 750. Start flushing at the highest point in
the system to lowest drain point. All portions of the system shall be back-flushed. Flushing
water shall be directed such that it will not cause accidental damage to property or danger to
persons.
Make provision for the disposal of flushing water.

14.0 TESTING
All new mist systems shall be tested prior to the occupancy of the building or the area the
system is protecting.
Testing of the mist system shall be in accordance with NFPA 750 and Project Specifications.
Any or all of the system component or portion which fail the specified tests shall be retested
after corrective measures have been taken.

14.1 Concealed Work


Concealed work (including underground) shall be tested and approval obtained prior
to covering.

15.0 DELIVERY, HANDLING AND STORAGE


The Contractor shall deliver, handle and store equipment and material units in accordance
with Project Specifications.
All products shall be inspected at time of delivery for damage and for compliance with
specifications.
All products shall be handled and stored as recommended by the manufacturer.
Nozzles must be handled with care.
Nozzles shall be delivered in their original packages, containers or bundles bearing the brand
name and the name of the material.
Nozzles shall be stored in a cool, dry place.
Pipe, fittings, valves, and nozzles shall be stored with open ends sealed until removed for
installation.
Materials shall be protected from weather, soil; and damage during delivery, storage and
construction.
Any products that are damaged or found not to be in accordance with the specifications shall
be immediately replaced.

16.0 CERTIFICATION
The Contractor shall prepare and submit a set of As-built Drawings and hydraulic calculations
of the system, maintenance and instruction bulletins, and the applicable parts of the
Contractor’s material and test certificates covering material and tests certifying that the work
has been completed and tested in accordance with plans and specifications.
