marcotting, grafting)
2. Perform the proper way of planting, propagating trees and fruit bearing trees.
3. Value the proper way of planting, propagating trees and fruit-bearing trees.

III. PROCEDURES
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Review
What are the ways of planting/propagating trees and fruit-bearing trees (budding,
marcotting, grafting)

2. Drill
Identify what is being described in each item. Choose the answer from the box
Inarching grafting cleft marcotting cutting budding

____1. Usually done on branches where the scion stem is of the same size as the
rootstock.
____2. A new plant is grown by inserting a scion into the stock so that they will form a
union.
____3. Done by transferring the lateral bud from the scion to the stock of the same family of
plants
____4. Propagating method wherein the mature branch of plant is induced to root while still
growing on the mother plant. ____5. A kind of grafting plants.
3. Unlocking of Difficulties
Scion- a young shoot or twig of a plant, especially one cut for grafting or rooting.
Stalk- the main stem of a herbaceous plant.
Cambium- in plants, is a tissue layer that provides partially undifferentiated cells for plant
growth. It is found in the area between xylem and phloem.
B. Development of the lesson
1. Motivation
Sing the song “If I Were a Tree” https://youtu.be/7mt79JW9u18

C. Presentation
Present the lesson by showing videos of Asexual propagation such as marcotting, grafting and
budding.

Steps in Marcotting
• Select the right branch
• Make deep cut
• Peel off the bark
• Wrap with ball of soil
• Wrap with plastic sheet
• Tie the ends
• See the roots through the plastic sheet
• Remove the wrapping
• Prune the rooted branch
