Introduction

a. About Myself

I am Neil Yancy C. Nacion, but you can call me either Yael or Yancy. I am
currently 18 years of age and is under BS Electronics and Communications
Engineering in the School of Engineering and Architecture at Saint Louis
University, Baguio City. Although I am currently living in Baguio City, I am a
proud Novo Ecijano from Guimba, Nueva Ecija. I am pleased to be an active
member of the Church of Christ (Iglesia Ni Cristo) and serve as a choir
member of the Church. Although I am not a catholic, I am still learning about
the differences in my religion and other religions.

b. Brief Description of CFE 101

The course Christian Faith Education 101 (CFE 101) introduces the next
CFE courses in the CICM TERTIARY SCHOOLS. It serves as an introduction to
the Sacred Scriptures and highlights the different stories on how God
journeyed with His people in the Old and New Testament and our Church
today. It invites us to read and listen to the word of God, which will serve as
your guide and light. The subject employs the 5 E’s (Engage, Explore,
Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate) and the CICM (Context, Inspired Word,
Church Teaching, and Missionary Response) framework to achieve the course
learning outcomes.

I. Activities in the General Introduction

a. Engage part Activity
1. Describe your faith affirming experiences and share these stories to
your classmates and to your families and friends.
 Starting when I was in 7th grade, I always get in a lot of accidents.
I’ve had gastric problems when I was in Grade 7, I broke my left arm
when I was in grade 8, I got hit by a van when I was in grade 9, and
I got in 3 separate motorcycle accidents when I was in the 10th
grade. Despite all of the bad things that have happened to me in
the past, I still get back on my feet, held my head up high, and lived
my life as happy as I can be with my faith in my heart without
doubting my beliefs. In bad and good times, I keep telling myself
that no matter how many times this world keeps pulling me down, I
will always have my faith to bring me back up.
2. In what ways/ instances can you sustain your faith in God?
 I sustain my faith by prayer every day every morning when I wake
up, and every night before I sleep. I keep on having a deeper
understanding of my faith through the activities that our church has
to offer.
b. Evaluate part Activity
 From your own experience, who and what do you believe in?
Create your own creed by stating and explaining your three
deeply held beliefs and how you concretely live by these in your
daily life. Write and express it creatively. Please bear in mind the
importance of originality.

My Creed

I am not limited to what I can be. I have more to give than

what your eyes can see. I have the strength and power that is growing
inside of me. I master my own faith; I am the chieftain of my body and
soul. To be better than my best; to upgrade myself is my quest. This is
my purpose: to be the dauntless hero of my story; to overcome what
lies beyond my journey. I am within my family’s love. I am an arm’s
reach of their support. In return, I give them my prayer for protection
and strength. The people of the world were made with God’s own
image. Though one’s story is unique to one another, we are

Page | 1
Saint Louis University
SCHOOL OF TEACHER EDUCATION AND LIBERAL ARTS
Department of Professional Education

Baguio City
(AY 2020-2021)

connected through one God and prayer. I accept what I am; I love
myself for who I have become. I am not perfect, but I will become
better, my faith grows deeper every day of my life. I live each day to
my fullest. My faith leads me to the path of greatness. I am
forever happy and grateful for what I have become.

 Insights gained from the activities for General Introduction

 This is the part where I began to realize that in every single day of
my life, there is still someone protecting me despite of the
challenges and difficulties that I faced. This is not just any normal
activity; this is the beginning of an eye opener that no one is ever
alone. In this part, which is only the beginning, we can see that we
are more than who we are, we can be better, and we can always be
the best with the help of God.
II. Module 1: Introduction to the Sacred Scriptures
a. Engage part Activity
1. If there is a thing that would best represent your idea about the
Bible, what would it be? Why? What does the Bible mean to you?

 For me, I can represent the Bible as a light. It illuminates me in my

darkest times, though not the Bible itself but the lessons that it
holds. The Bible for me is a guide. It is what helps me decide what
to do and where to go in my worst times.

2. Who/what influenced you to view the Bible in this way?

 What helped me view the Bible this way are the teachings of our
Church and my parents. They always tell me that “Anak, lagi mong
tatandaan yung mga tinuturo sa Bibliya, poprotektahan ka niyan”.

3. What is it about the Bible that you want to know more of or to be

clarified about?

 For now, there’s nothing that I need to be certain or clarified

about. I trust and believe on what was written in the Bible.

Page | 2

SCHOOL OF TEACHER EDUCATION AND LIBERAL ARTS
Department of Professional Education

(AY 2020-2021)

b. Evaluate part Activity

 From this part of the module, I learned that:
 2 Timothy 3:16-17 which states “All Scripture is inspired by
God and is useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction,
and for training in righteousness, so that one who belongs to
God may be competent, equipped for every good work.” Is the
Scriptural Reference for biblical inspiration
 The main “author” of the Holy Scriptures according to the
Biblical Inspiration teaching is God the Father Himself.
 Biblical Canonicity is defined as the process by which the
Church discerned the different books in the Bible and produced
its final list.
 Biblical infallibility is the teaching that holds that the bible
teaches without mistakes
 Exegesis is the objective and critical approach in
interpreting the Bible.
 The Deuterocanonical books is how Catholics refer to the
additional seven books in the Greek canon of the Bible.
 The Church document which declares the Bible being
written through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit is called the
Dei Verbum.
 There are seven books that are not included in the
Protestant edition of the Bible are:
a) Tobit
b) Judith
c) Wisdom
d) Sirach
e) Baruch
f) 1 Maccabees
g) 2 Maccabees

 The books of the Bible are inspired writings. They contain God’s
word expressed in human language. The books provide us
instructions and insights on right living. As hearers of the Word of
God, how will you respond to the challenge of utilizing the Bible on
right Christian living? Provide three concrete ways.
 First is by having faith in what was written in the Bible. Just
like what we are experiencing today, we must have faith in
God's words but also do what we need to do and not just have
faith in Him alone.

Page | 3
Saint Louis University
SCHOOL OF TEACHER EDUCATION AND LIBERAL ARTS
Department of Professional Education

Baguio City
(AY 2020-2021)

 Another is by learning more and understand the Bible. One

of the reasons on why we attend church meetings is to
understand the word of God in order to do our missions as
Christians.
 Lastly, by doing our mission. We are told to go forth and
share or spread the word of God. This is one of the ways to best
utilize the Bible. Not the literal Bible itself but the Word of God
that it holds. We can't teach it ourselves, that is why we have
priests/ministers to teach them to us clearly therefore
encouraging people to attend church gatherings is the best
way to share the Word of the Lord.
 Insights gained from the activities for Module 1
 In this module, we get to learn deeper about the Sacred
Scriptures, who made them, what are they, and the importance of
learning about them. Having been able do get a deeper
understanding about these Scriptures as an added knowledge
makes it a little bit clearer for me what they are about as well as
what they hold.
III. Module 2: God, the Father journeys with His people
Unit 1: Engage part activity
1. What are your ideas about who God the Father is?

 God the Father is the one that guides, protects, and watches
over us from above every single day of our life since the day we
were brought into this world. He listens to us and carries us
through our life until the day we meet Him in His home

2. What might you say of importance for having a father in your life?

 Having a father, or at least a father figure, in our lives has a

great significance that creates a better life and a better
understanding of life. The unconditional love that a father gives
to his children cannot be measured by anything. A father is
someone who helps encourage, build, learn, and teaches about
the reality of life to his children. Nothing is impossible to a loving
father.

Department of Professional Education

Baguio City
(AY 2020-2021)

3. What new insights did you get from watching the video about God
as your Father?
 My past insights of God as my father didn’t change. I know that
He loves me unconditionally because I can feel it in my body,
heart, and soul. I talk to Him every day and He makes me feel
lighter. Through everything that happened to me before and to
what is happening to me now, I can always feel His presence,
hugging me, carrying me through this rough journey and leading
me to great success.

Unit 1: Evaluate part activity

 Inspired by Abraham and Moses as models of faith who successfully
accompanied the journey of God's people; compose a poem with 5
stanzas and with 4 lines each expressing your obedience or
faithfulness to your parents, teachers, church leaders, community
leaders and to God. Create a short title (3-5 words only) of your
poem that would encapsulate the message of your poem.

My Faith, My Guide

My father makes me stronger

My mother makes me love more
They watched me learn and grow
I grew and learned because of them

My faith runs through my soul and body

In God I trust my whole self faithfully
His words molded me
His teachings awakened and guided me

I will never forget the teachers I had

They guided me through this life
I give them gratitude and love

In faith I pray for them to God

I trust our Leader of the Church

He has my utmost respect,
Because of Him I learned to reflect
I believe in him, I believe in The Word

I follow those leaders who are worthy

I serve and love this country
I serve with the call for my duty
On my own I trust them fully

Unit 2: Engage part activity

1. Who are the significant people in your lives who contributed to
your formation and transformation?

 The most significant people in my life is my family. That

includes my parents, siblings, and my nonblood related family.
They were the ones who opened my eyes in the real world.
They taught me how to survive and how to help others
survive.

2. Describe your experience of how they have inspired or influenced

you in any way.

 My family and the ones I consider my family influenced me in

a good way. Even though I grew up in a toxic society which
ended up on me developing my anger issues, they were the
ones that showed me the right thing to do. They helped me
control my emotions and didn't let go of me even though I
thought that I was a burden to them.

Page | 6
Saint Louis University
SCHOOL OF TEACHER EDUCATION AND LIBERAL ARTS
Department of Professional Education

Baguio City
(AY 2020-2021)

 In the past, I was bullied and was rejected by my own

classmates saying that I don't belong with them. I was always
the butt of the joke during my whole JHS life and the only
ones that I had was the one that I called and considered my
"Kuya". He was one of the people who made me feel that I
belong and because of him I learned to help anyone - stranger
or not - as much as I can. I know the feeling of being left out,
that's why I don't want anyone to feel the same way that I
did.
Unit 2: Evaluate part activity
 With the understanding you gained from the lesson about Nevi'im
(Prophets), how can you be a prophet in today's time? Choose one
issue that our country or the world is facing right now and
concretely explain how you could be an advocate against the issue.
 I can be a prophet in today’s time by helping those in need and
giving them a chance to live a good life. In our church, we have
events such as the “Worldwide Walk to Fight Poverty” which is
aimed at those experiencing homelessness and poverty all over
the world. I participated wholeheartedly in these events and also
actively participated in charity events as well. Poverty is a major
issue not only in the Philippines but in other third world countries
as well. Guiding these people to a better life by giving them hope
in the future. Giving them food, shelter, and good clothing can
give them a better chance and lose their feelings of hopelessness
towards a brighter future.
Unit 3: Engage part activity
 Think of good or bad experiences as you watch or recite the poem
“Footprints in the Sand”. Identify those events in your life where
you encountered God carrying or assuring you of his love. Write a
short reflection about it.
 Throughout my life, I encountered countless challenges that
sometimes made me feel down. One of them is when I was all
alone; no friends, no company, no one to talk to nor spend time
with. That is when I realized that I wasn’t alone, I prayed to God
and there I felt His warm love. Talking to Him made me happy, it
made me feel light. There was also the time when I was at my
weakest both physically and mentally. I was at the hospital for
almost a month getting cured of my sickness that almost turned

Page | 7
Saint Louis University
SCHOOL OF TEACHER EDUCATION AND LIBERAL ARTS
Department of Professional Education

Baguio City
(AY 2020-2021)

to an ulcer. Throughout those days, there was not a single time

that I didn’t pray for my own health. I will never forget the dream
I had on my last day in the hospital; there was a man holding my
hand, walking with me through a dark alley and then throughout
that journey, black figures started to appear and were trying to
pull me in the darkness. But that man never let go until we
arrived at the end of the alley. I woke up and the doctor said that
I could go. It was at that time that I was sure the man with me
was God. He never let me go, He never abandoned me, He is my
savior and I am sure that His love for me is unending and
unconditional.,
Unit 3: Evaluate part activity
Discuss how you can live a life full of trust, wisdom, gratitude, and
hope in the following contexts:
a) During the time of great loss.

 A great loss can be of a loved one. Such a tragic event can leave a
scar that takes a long time to heal. I can live with this by trusting
God that my loved one is with Him.

b) In moment of sickness.

 As someone who experienced a great sickness myself, I lived

through that with trust in God during those days. From the start of
that sickness, I never doubted Him. With full hope and faith that I
have towards God, I have tremendous gratitude and happiness
that I was cured and is now continuing my life.
c) During this time of pandemic.

 During this time of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is with full hope

that this will soon end. I trust God with all my heart that He will
heal this world of this disease. Even though this is a test of faith
for us, it is a road to be taken to learn how to trust God in His
timing.

d) In moments of blessings.

Page | 8
Saint Louis University
SCHOOL OF TEACHER EDUCATION AND LIBERAL ARTS
Department of Professional Education

Baguio City
(AY 2020-2021)

 Waking up is a blessing; having food in front of the table is a

blessing, having friends and family to be by your side. That is
why I start every day with a prayer of gratitude and taking care
of those blessings every single day and every chance that I can
get.

 Insights gained from the activities Module 2

 Throughout this module, I have been able to identify who are the
most significant people in my life. I have realized that I would
sacrifice myself for these people, especially my family. These
people are my inspiration and my strength. I also learned that I
can be a prophet in today’s time in so many ways. This is a great
way to continue what the prophets in the past did. Finally, I have
been able to share my beliefs and faithfulness to God even
through difficult and easy times.
IV. Module 3: God, the Son journeys with His people.
Unit 1: Engage part activity
1.) What are the concrete actions that express your YES to a commitment
that entails acceptance, faithfulness, and obedience?

 My proud YES to all these three is my continuous service as a

choir member in our church. I accepted this offer wholeheartedly
when I was 13 years old because we believe that being called to
be a part of what completes a Worship Service is a calling from
God.

2.) Describe and evaluate your level of commitment to your family,

friends, classmates, community and to God.

 My level of commitment to my family differs from those of my

friends, classmates, and community. This is because my family is
second to God. I will never back away from my family whatever
may happen. Through my years of living with my family, we
always look after one another without hesitation. My top priority
and also my family's top priority in commitment is God. We were

Page | 9
Saint Louis University
SCHOOL OF TEACHER EDUCATION AND LIBERAL ARTS
Department of Professional Education

Baguio City
(AY 2020-2021)

taught to be forever committed to Him and never leave a single

doubt to Him. For my friends, classmates, and community, what I
do is give them my utmost respect that they deserve and help
them when in time of need. What I do is I always think of never
betraying them.

3.) What are the ways by which you can grow into a more committed
person when it comes to your relationship with those mentioned
above?

 For me, RESPECT and TRUST is what builds up commitment. No

matter how bad people are to us, we must not act in vengeance.
Otherwise we still must have respect, this is a way of showing
our commitment to the society. We all know that society is harsh,
but we can still be committed to it, to God, our family, friends,
and classmates through RESPECT and TRUST.

Unit 1: Evaluate part activity

 Compose a song/prayer to Mary as an expression of your
appreciation for her faithfulness, humility, simplicity, and
obedience to God (you may use the prayer below as your
reference). You may write in Filipino or English.

Dear mother Mary ever virgin, pray for us to your most blessed Son,
pray for all our needs, pray for all of us here on earth. Please help us, defend
us, give thanks for us and be our bridge to your Son, Jesus. Unite us in these
trying times and allow us to bring forth love and honesty to one another.
Receive our gratitude and, by your prayers, obtain the pardon of our sins.
Virgin Mary, hear my prayer, protect us with your everlasting love. Assure
me of my eternal salvation and forever bring peace to this world. I am but a
humble servant of your Son; I follow His footsteps and His word. Comfort me
with your love in my discouragements, my fatigues, and raise me when I fall.
Please dispose of all my anxieties and miseries. Aid me in my actions with
your love and your grace that I may not be a displease of sight to your ever-
loving Son. Remember me, dearest Mother, and do not abandon me at the
hour of death. Amen.

(AY 2020-2021)

Unit 2: Engage part activity

1) What are the necessary elements needed in preparation for welcoming
a family member or a friend coming home from abroad or a distant
place?

 In our family, if it's a family member, we usually prepare a big

meal and coming together as a clan. Not just us family members,
but almost the whole clan will prepare. It has been part of our
"normal" celebration. If it's a friend, we give gifts to them and
welcome them to our homes when they visit, and they do the
same to us. We always prepare our best meals with welcoming
them and we have a little party for the children, give them
prizes. Same goes with the adults together with the teenagers.
But at the beginning of each celebration, our grandmothers give
respect to our late great-grandfather (atang) which is a part of
tradition.

2) What should we consider as most important as we prepare for it?

 We should consider the things that these people that we are

welcoming or will welcome will always have a safe trip. It doesn't
matter if they are a family or a friend, we must always pray for
them and their safety. We must always prepare for the things
that they love and remember the things that we had with them
to be part of their welcoming.

Unit 2: Evaluate part activity

1) Inspired by John the Baptist ministry of making God’s presence alive,
state concrete and specific ways on how you could be an agent of
Jesus’ presence in your family, school, and community.

 I can be an agent of Jesus in our family through joining them in

our Worship Services. I always share my thoughts about how we,
as a family, can help each other as well as help our community.
In our community, we always help those in need. The main
problem of our community is poverty; thus, we help those who
are experiencing this. We give them food, drinks, clothes and a
hope to be lifted up of what they are experiencing. In school, it is
the same. During this pandemic, most of the one's I know are

Page | 11
Saint Louis University
SCHOOL OF TEACHER EDUCATION AND LIBERAL ARTS
Department of Professional Education

Baguio City
(AY 2020-2021)

having difficulties in getting the hang of what to do in our

subjects. Thus, I opened myself to their queries and answer
them with the best that I can give. I even gave them some
tutorials to make things easier for them.

2) State the 2 significant values of John the Baptist and discuss each
value briefly on how you can apply it in your life to be successful this
semester.

 One value is selflessness. As I have stated above, I am open to

my classmates. I receive their questions and answer them with
the best knowledge I have. I teach them what I know, and I share
my knowledge on what I excel in. With this, I can expect many
questions, thus I have the inspiration to study to make myself,
together with them, be successful. Another is humility. Whoever I
am talking to, I am always humble. I don't talk ill of them nor talk
behind their backs. This is one key future of being successful this
semester because with humility comes greater understanding.

Unit 3: Engage part activity

1) Who are the significant people in your lives whom you consider as
agents of knowledge, healing, and transformation?

 My family is one of the most significant people in my life that

first transformed, healed, and taught me through their lessons;
it's their words that first opened my eyes to the world. Next is for
my knowledge are my teachers; throughout my 18 years of
existence, my majority of what I know came from my teachers.
From the first day I came to school, I was continually learning
and is still doing so. The people who participated in both my
transformation and healing are our ministers. The teachings that
they hold, the faith that they have, and the knowledge they
possess.
2) Describe your experience of healing, learning and transformation
through them.

 My experience of healing was when I was hospitalized because

of an accident. It was then that I was both mentally and
physically healed. That accident was caused by my anger while I
was driving. During my time of healing, I learned how to manage

Page | 12
Saint Louis University
SCHOOL OF TEACHER EDUCATION AND LIBERAL ARTS
Department of Professional Education

Baguio City
(AY 2020-2021)

my anger and I learned the value of life. In my learning

experiences, even if I'm not in school or when I'm not studying, I
am constantly learning every single day. There are things that
are still new to me and is still learning about them. In my
transformation, I begun as a person that can't handle my
emotions. I am emotionally unstable. I can get angry about the
simplest things. But now, I can control that anger through
focusing on what makes me happy and calm: Music.

Unit 3: Evaluate part activity

 Inspired by the liberating ministries of Jesus such as his teaching,
healing, and table fellowship; compose your pledge of
commitment to become Jesus' agent to continue and participate
in his ministries in your family, school, church and community
(INTEGRATE THEM IN YOUR PLEDGE)

My Pledge
I am a servant of God. My family is my priority. As a son, I will take care
of my family; my parents are my guide, my sisters are my strength. I will
forever be of help to them. To my family, I owe them my life. To my school, I
will not disappoint you. I will do my best to make the name of the school
through my knowledge and actions. I am a proud Louisian, I will live up to
that name and I will stand my ground for the name of Saint Louis University.
To my church, I will continue my commitment, I will sing songs of praise to
God until my last breath. I will forever be of service and will never back
down. To my community, your rules are just, I will live by them and be a role
model for those behind me. I am a citizen of my community as well as a
follower of God. I will forever be of mindful of my commitments, stand my
ground, and defend what I believe in.

Unit 4: Engage part activity

1. How are you coping with the shifts, discomforts, adjustments and
even the negativities brought by this pandemic?

 Coping during this pandemic is a challenge. All of us are new and

is still not used to it. As for me, I am coping through my
discomforts, stress, and other negativities through music.

Page | 13
Saint Louis University
SCHOOL OF TEACHER EDUCATION AND LIBERAL ARTS
Department of Professional Education

Baguio City
(AY 2020-2021)

Although I am not a musician, I listen to a lot of music to keep

me calm through this challenge and keep my mind straight.

2. Who have been accompanying you in these difficult times?

 My company throughout this pandemic physically is my family.
Having fun with them and sharing our memories is a good way of
hanging out with them. Distantly, I have my friends as well as
my internet friends. I play, talk, and have fun with them in
different ways so that all of us will know that no one is alone
even in this pandemic.
3. Despite our current state, what do you consider as your blessings
for which you remain grateful?
 What I consider a blessing is my health. Even in the middle of
this pandemic that people are being emotionally and physically
sick, I am still grateful to be in perfect health.
Unit 4: Evaluate part activity
1. Why is Jesus’ passion, death, and resurrection the very heart of
Christian life, liturgy and spirituality? As a SEA student, provide a
concrete example on how you can be a Christian according to your
answer in the previous question.

 Because it was Jesus' passion that convinced and made people

believe, follow, and teach them how to be faithful to God and see
Him as their savior. His death and resurrection are the things
what made the Christians back then as well as now believe that
we have God always looking after as, in life and in death. As a
SEA student as well as a follower of God and His teachings, what
I can do is to be of help to the people who have lost their hopes.
My first target are my classmates and friends that are struggling
with their studies. I aim to make them believe that they will
survive through whatever they may be facing and whatever that
troubles them through communication and teaching them of
what I know.

2. Why do we need to observe our liturgical celebrations like our

 Sunday masses or worships are a fulfillment to the third

commandment which states that "Remember to keep Holy the
Sabbath day". After all that we've been through the past week, a
worship service can make our lives lively again through prayer,
worship, and living with the wisdom of God and His words within
us. It is also the day that we can prepare for the beginning of the
week, we can pray for what we will be doing and as well as
prepare for them. This day is the day that we rest our physical
bodies because it is also stated in the Bible that we should take
care of ourselves. As for me, I have already made that
commitment. Since the day I was born and offered, I was already
living up to that commitment. The day that I was baptized was
the day I begun to take a step forward in that commitment
through service; being a choir member and church officer in the
Church of Christ.

 Insights gained from the activities for Module 3

 This module covers God’s Journey with His people and the
essence of commitment. While answering the questions that
have been given to us to reflect upon, I have realized that my
commitments to my family, community, church, and friends are
unending. I also learned from John the Baptist the importance of
selflessness and humility. As a leader, I need to become both
selfless and humble for my family, the community in which I am
a part of, the church that I serve, and the friends that I love.
V. Module 4: God, the Holy Spirit journeys with his
People
Unit 1: Engage part activity
1. Can I perform my Christian mission with such courage and
dedication the way Jesus’ apostles did?

 Yes, I believe that I can. For years I have been dedicating myself
in pleasing God in doing what He wants us to. I have served Him
for 5 years and is still in the process of doing so.

2. What can I sacrifice for the purpose of my Christian mission?

(AY 2020-2021)

 I can sacrifice my worldly pleasures for the missions given to me.

Games, music, love, etc.

3. What persecutions do we encounter in the conduct of our Christian

mission today?
 The top on the list is the worldly pleasures. Sometimes we do
things that do not please God's eyes yet it pleases ours. One
example is our job and studies, some people sacrifice their
worship services for these things.
Unit 2: Engage part activity
1. Who are the two people you would choose to be included in your
group? Why did you pick the said person?

 Student #3 and Student #4. Student #3 increases the group's

morale which means it will also increase the happiness and thus
having him/her as a groupmate is something to be proud of.
Having fun while doing tasks can always lead up to having the
best output. Although he/she keeps her opinions to him/herself, I
as a leader always listens to what my group mates has to say
and consider their ideas always. It doesn't matter if he doesn't
share his/her ideas with the whole group, I will approach that
person willingly and ask him/her what he/she thinks, even if it
means talking to that person alone. Student #4 is also a good
mate since he/she knows if what we're doing is right or wrong,
even though s/he is a straightforward person, he can be an asset
into making a great output. He may say rude and straightforward
words, but as to my experience as a leader, this is sometimes a
way to increase the group's working capacities. I don't let things
go out of hand or go below the belt, I can assure that my
groupmates are always in their best and doing their best. With
both of them in my group, a good output and a happy group can
be produced.

2. Were your answers based on past experiences with group projects?

If yes, what were your feelings while working with them?

 Yes, it is from past experiences. What I felt while working with

them was surprisingly productive. A person who keeps our hopes
up and a person who corrects what is wrong. This turned out to

be a great group and we accomplished the task with flying colors

and the highest mark as well.

3. Do you think almost all established groups had the same problems
and sentiments as you did when they started forming their groups?
Are these “birthing pains” (initial problems) necessary for the
growth of the group? Defend your answer.

 On my opinion, yes. Everyone has a downside, even the leaders.

It is necessary not just for the group but for the individuals in it
as well. These downsides are just there to be a challenge to us
leaders to figure out what would a leader do. These "tendencies"
that students have are just that, they are just tendencies. Not
everyone is perfect, not everyone can contribute their full
cooperation because we have our own lives, not just these
school works. Understanding and patience are keys to success.
Unit 2: Evaluate part activity
 As a member of a growing community, make an essay on how can you
concretely aid or contribute to its development? Describe your action
and explain the significance of it comprehensively (You may cite
pressing problems that our country/ world is facing today then discuss
your point in the light of the theme of this essay).

As I’ve cited in my answers in the previous modules, I want to

aid those experiencing extreme poverty. This has been an unending
problem of the country, with countless families living in the streets
with nothing to eat. When I was a child, around 7 – 8 years of age, we
visited a family member in Manila. There I saw people lying in the
streets with ragged clothes sleeping, and after the visit, we had a
church meeting, and this problem was discussed. It was then that I
began to join in helping those who are experiencing this poverty. I am
currently doing this, together with the whole Church of Christ. We have
what we call “Lingap para sa mamamayan” which is where we give our
share of blessings to those who are in need of it most.

The world can see what our Church can do and what we’ve
already done. In the Philippines, we have an unending reach of hands
to those who are experiencing poverty, especially during these
challenging times. We have programs at hand to be of help to

everyone in need in every corner of the world. I have been personally

giving my clothes, money, food, and personal belongings that I know
can be of help to keep their hopes up. During this pandemic, we have
given support endlessly, through giving cavans of rice, up to providing
monetary donations to local governments so that they could be of use
as well. We have been going to local communities providing support,
having outreach programs as one. These programs are not just merely
giving; we also entertain. During these outreach programs, we conduct
entertainment for both children and adults. This includes games,
music, and even biblical lectures. The children are given school
supplies so that they will be able to go to school with complete
collections. The adults are given food and household supplies to
improve their humble homes.

To what I have experienced and have seen, these movements

gave hope to them. Seeing happiness in children’s eyes, seeing people
cry in joy warms my heart, knowing that I have lived and is living my
life in giving my hands to these people. In this world that most are
“privileged” and are not even having care for those people
experiencing poverty, I am one with our church in giving them hope,
giving them a chance to live a life out of poverty. It has been my
mission to be of help to everyone; seeing people in the streets begging
for money and food, I go back to them the next day to give them not
just food, but also clean clothes and enough money and food to have
them fed for at least two days. This may be small acts, but it is my
duty that I have to fulfill. My family has gone through this, and it pains
to see people going through so much worse. I can’t live a good life,
knowing that the people around me are suffering.

 Insights gained from the activities for Module 4

 In this last module, I was able to bring back my past as a
leader and was able to gain more knowledge about being one.
I also had the chance to share my thoughts about the
problems that are being encountered by our society and
share what I have done to be of help. This is an eye opener to
some, to be someone even better and to learn to sacrifice
worldly pleasures for something even more precious.

VI. Conclusion and Self-Assessment

I can conclude that this subject not just enhanced my knowledge but
also gave me the opportunity to show what I can do. Although I am not
a Catholic by religion, I have learned how things are for others.
Through answering every question in every module, I have witnessed
that everyone has challenges that only they could overcome. This is
the perfect time to be better, to grow as a Christian and to be of
service to God.
