SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE

I. The Present Simple Tense:
1. Form:
Structure
Affirmative S + V/Vs/Ves….
S + am/is/are……

Negative S + do/does + not + V…

S + am/is/are + not…..
Interrogative Do/Does + S + V….?
Am/Is/Are + S ….?

2. Use:
a. Diễn tả một hành động hoặc một thói quen hằng ngày.
(always, usually, often, sometimes, occasionally, seldom, rarely, every…….)
Ex: I usually go to school in the afternoon.
b. Diễn tả một chân lý, một sự thật luôn luôn đúng.
Ex: The earth moves around the sun

3.Notes: He, She, It.

a. Thêm “S” vào sau các động từ
Ex: Lan often gets up early in the morning.
b. Thêm “ES” vào sau các động tận cùng ch, sh, s, x, o, z.
Ex: He watches a lot of TV on Sundays.
c.Động từ bằng y trước y là 1 phụ âm ta đổi - y rồi thêm – ies
Ex: She studies eng lish every day.
* Some adverbs which are often used in the present simple: một số trạng từ thường

Always( luôn luôn), often( thường),
usually/ generally( thường thường),
frequently( thường xuyên),
sometimes / occasionally/ now and then (đôi khi, thỉnh thoảng),
every( mọi, mỗi),
seldom / rarely (ít khi, hiếm khi)
Once, twice, three times a day ( a week, a month...)
Một, hai, hoặc ba lần trong 1 ngày, 1 tuần hoặc 1 tháng.....

4. Pronunciation
- Tận cùng những âm vô thanh : t, p, k..... thì phát âm / s/.
- Tận cùng những âm : ch, s, x, sh, z..... thì phát âm /iz/.
- Những âm còn lại thì phát âm /z/.
