I. Objectives:
At the end of the 40 minute discussion, the Grade 1-Gumamela pupils are
expected to:
a. Define what non-standard units of measurement is.
b. Demonstrate the ability to use a variety of non-standard unit of
measurements to determine the length, weight and capacity ; and
c. Value the importance of using non-standard units.

“Good morning, teacher!”

“Before you sit down, please pick up
the pieces of papers and arrange your
chairs”

B. Motivation
“Now children, I will show you a
pictures and you’re going to guess
what’s in the pictures.
C. Lesson Proper
“What is non-standard units of
measurements?
Example:
“Using
paper clips, how many paper clips are
equal to a pencil?”
“It shows
that the length of the pencil are
equivalent to 4 paper clips.”
“Using your hand or a small cup, you (Students will answer the activity)
can get an approximate capacity of
something.”

Cylindrical glass is equivalent to 24
small cups.

Directions: Check the pictures in each
number. Choose and circle the one with a
length equal to 2 pieces of matchsticks. And
write it on your paper.

Directions: Check each picture below. Give
the corresponding number or size. And write it
on your paper.
