EUMIND GROUP 4

gender related roles

reflectioN REPORT
Antara
I was the leader of my group, gender-related roles. I
coordinated most of the communication amongst the group
and I helped everyone with their interviews and helped them
to solve their doubts. I also allotted the work so that it would
get done quickly and efficiently. I helped edit the videos and
design the documents, as well as interviewing my mother
and both my grandmothers. In my opinion, the most
interesting part of the entire program was comprehending
the various views on gender norms and gender roles in
different households and families in India and The
Netherlands. During this program, I have learned to work
with other people well across the obstacles of language and
time difference. I was surprised by the diversity of the
answers we received through the interviews of our own
families, which I had originally thought would not yield
results. The only things that I would do differently are to
communicate more with our partner group and take more
interviews of men to gain their perspective.

I was the technology expert for my group, group 4, in
EUMIND. I was in charge of setting up all virtual forms of
communication with the rest of the group and editing the
videos and reports. I took interviews of my friends and
family members and helped plan and edit all the videos
made. This program has taught me many things, one of the
most important being teamwork. I have learned that
communication truly is the key to any successful
partnership, and that every member of a team has a vital
role. Despite the language barrier between us, the group
from the partner school and our group were able to
communicate quite effectively, even through a laptop
screen, overcoming any obstacles and even trying to learn
the other group’s mother-tongue. This collaboration has
taught me so much about how different cultures and
traditions around the world are, but also how even the
smallest things, such as football and cars, can bring you
together. It has genuinely been a wonderful experience
getting to meet, talk and laugh with people from another
part of the world.

The group I was in was gender related roles. We had a
series of tasks that we had to complete and I contributed to
each and every task in some way or the other such as
giving and taking interviews, communicating with the
intercultural peers and writing descriptions. My most
memorable learning experience has to be the first zoom
meeting thats was there were we and the intercultural
peers got to know each other and where we each taught
each other some its and bits of our native language while
they taught us few things in their native language and all
of us were struggling to get the pronunciation right was a
very special moment to me. Everything according to me
was just perfect I'm just looking forward to communicate
more and more with them. From the research I have
learned that there was much less gender equality issues
there compared to India but the government has done an
outstanding job for that issue to almost go. We have
submitted each and every task on time with dedication and
discipline and my whole group has worked in unity for
every single task each one contributing in some way or the
other.

As the editor in the EUMIND project, I conducted interviews about
gender disparities across generations along with our team members.
Additionally, we contributed to team-building activities, creating a
Diwali video and recording an introduction video. By engaging in such
creative projects and collaborative efforts, our group fostered cultural
exchange with the intercultural team. The highlight was creating
cultural exchange videos and breaking cultural barriers. The diverse
backgrounds of our team in the Netherlands enriched my
understanding of global perspectives. This experience enhanced my
communication skills, especially in conveying the essence of our
traditions and cultures and sharing personal stories effectively
through interviews and videos. Communication through WhatsApp
and Zoom facilitated effective collaboration, ensuring a seamless
exchange of ideas. The team-building activities successfully created a
sense of unity. To enhance efficiency, providing clearer project
management guidelines could optimize our process. Technical aspects
were well-handled, and a more balanced task distribution would
further streamline our collaborative efforts. Our collaboration with
the Netherlands team offered insights into their culture as well, and
the comparison of our research outcomes revealed both
commonalities and differences. This process emphasized the
importance of diverse perspectives, enriching the overall project.
Their approach added depth to our research, creating a more
comprehensive understanding of the subject and fostering a truly
global perspective.

Eumind has been an amazing experience overall. This
opportunity has broadened my perspective on gender-related
roles and has helped modify my communication skills. I was
the proofreader of my group and have reviewed my teammates'
content for various documents we have submitted and have
made sure all our submissions are as close to perfection as
possible in terms of grammar and language.
My favourite memory so far was the first Zoom call we had with
the people of the Netherlands, which was extremely eye-
opening. This not only built my communication skills but
talking to them and learning about their life showed me how
different life across the globe can be in comparison to mine.
The communication aspect of the call went well, it didn’t take
long to break the ice and we got along quickly. We talked about
the differences in our lives considering simple things such as
the weather, our school life, routine and so on. If I could, I
would have spoken to them for longer so we could get to know
each other better. The only factor that disrupted this was the
time zone difference. This experience has taught me how easy
and fun it can be to talk to people from different parts of the
world and has changed my perspective on gender-related roles
by hearing different perspectives of it from my parent,
grandparents and friends from the Netherlands.
