NARRATIVE REPORT ON CLUSTERED SCHOOLS TRAINING-WORKSHOP ON


THE DIFFERENT APPROACHES AND STRATEGIES IN TEACHING 21st CENTURY
SKILLS IN ARALING PANLIPUNAN

The result of the regional diagnostic test and revealed that the MPL in questions that
assess critical analysis is below 60%. Out of the yielded results, questions involving problem-
solving, and innovation ranked next. It can also be noted that written communication skills need
to be given attention in having learners explain and explore on the topics given. These skills are
among the 21st century skills needed by our learners.
In line with the progressive implementation of K to 12 enhanced curriculum and
MATATAG agenda on curriculum improvements, a Clustered Schools Training Workshop in the
Different Approaches and Strategies in Teaching 21st Century Skills in Araling Panlipunan was
conducted last February 15-16 and 23, 2024 at San Miguel North District Hall, Camias, San
Miguel, Bulacan.
The activity aims to review the four skills areas of the 21 st century skills; critical thinking
and problem solving, communication, collaboration, and creativity and innovation. Reflect on
the participants own practice and share their experiences and challenges with their co teachers;
Apply various approaches and strategies that foster 21 st century skills in the teaching-learning
process in Araling Panlipunan. Design learning plans and performance-based assessments that
measure learners 21st century skills in Araling Panlipunan.
It was attended by 15 Araling Panlipunan School Coordinators and 15 Grade 5 Araling
panlipunan teachers. On the first day, Mrs. Imelda R. Vargas discussed about Education in the
21st Century (SDO- BULACAN AP PERFORMANCE SITUATIONAL REPORT) followed by
Mrs. Liza Labrador who focused on “Pagtuturo ng Kasanayang Pang 21ng Siglo sa Araling
Panlipunan”, lastly Mr. Mark Intervalo discussed the topic “ Retooling the Teachers Capacity in
Using ICT AND EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES in Teaching”. The participants were very
much willing and interested on that topic.
On the second day, Mrs. Cristina N. Villasis our district AP Coordinator, introduced the
Approaches in Teaching Araling Panlipunan: The 21st Century Way and in the afternoon she
presented and explained how to make a Learning Plan. The needed outputs were clearly
explained the participants will produce learning plans, summative tests and performance-based
assessment in Araling Panlipunan integrating 21st century skills for Grade 5.
On the last day the participants presented their outputs through PowerPoint presentation
and it was critiqued by the District Quality and Assurance Team. The seminar was indeed a
fruitful one!
