TIMSMaintenance Procedure R4
TIMSMaintenance Procedure R4
SCOPE:
The following is a recommended preventive maintenance guide to assure TIMS & TDRS systems run as
smoothly as possible. As TIMS& TDRS are Windows 7 based PC’s, preventive maintenance is typical of
any PC. Maintenance consists of checking & defragmenting the hard drive, verifying disk space, deleting
older TIMS studies and cleaning system airflow grills.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Compressed air, label, and familiarity with Windows 7 system administration.
- Maintenance can take from 30 minutes to several hours depending on the amount of disk
fragmentation and amount of space used on the hard drive.
PROCEDURE:
TIMS & TDRS performance will degrade when the system hard drive is full.
Additionally, TIMS is designed for short-term study storage. Long term study storage is performed on
PACS. PACS contain standard disk backup & redundancy mechanisms for long term data storage.
To preserve disk space, it is recommended to delete any TIMS studies over 6 months old.
