Cách dùng Nói về một điều kiện có thể thực sự xảy ra trong Nói về một kết quả có thể thực sự xảy ra trong hiện tại
hiện tại hoặc tương lai. hoặc tương lai nếu điều kiện trong mệnh đề if xảy ra.
Cấu trúc Thì hiện tại đơn Will + Vo
Ví dụ If it rains, we will cancel the trip.
Nếu trời mưa, chúng tôi sẽ hủy chuyến đi.
Có thể dùng might, may, can, If it rains, we might cancel the trip
should,…

Diễn tả các giả định hoặc sự việc không có thật, không thể xảy ra ở hiện tại hoặc tương lai và kết quả của nó.

Nói về một điều kiện mà người nói tin rằng KHÔNG THỂ thực sự xảy Nói về một kết quả CÓ THỂ xảy ra trong hiện tại nếu điều kiện

Thì quá khứ đơn would + Vo

Dùng “were” với động từ tobe

If I spoke German, I would work in Germany.

Nếu tôi nói được tiếng Đức, tôi sẽ làm việc ở Đức.
If I spoke German, I might/could work in Germany.

Nếu tôi nói được tiếng Đức, tôi có thể làm việc ở Đức.

Nói về những sự việc đã không xảy ra trong quá khứ và kết quả có tính giả định của nó. Dạng câu điều kiện này thường
được dùng để diễn tả sự tiếc nuối hoặc lời phê bình.

MỆNH ĐỀ IF MỆNH ĐỀ CHÍNH

Nói về điều kiện ĐÃ KHÔNG xảy ra trong quá khứ. Nói về kết quả ĐÃ CÓ THỂ xảy trong quá khứ nếu điều kiện
trong mệnh đề if ĐÃ xảy ra trong quá khứ.
Tuy nhiên, vì mệnh đề if ĐÃ KHÔNG xảy ra trong quá khứ, nên kết
quả này cũng ĐÃ KHÔNG THỂ xảy ra trong quá khứ.

Thì quá khứ hoàn thành would + have PP

 If I had studied harder, I would have passed the exam.

Nếu tôi đã học bài chăm chỉ hơn thì tôi đã thi đậu rồi.
If I had studied harder, I might/could have passed the exam. 

Nếu tôi đã học bài chăm chỉ hơn thì tôi có thể đã thi đậu rồi.
