Painting is the expression of
ideas and emotions, with the
creation of certain aesthetic
qualities done through

medium is applied with a
brush, but other tools can be
used such as knives, sponges,
or airbrushes in order to
convey two-dimensional
visual language. The elements
of this language—its shapes,
lines, colors, tones, and
textures—are used in various
ways to produce sensations of
volume, space, movement,
harmony, and light on a flat
surface.

things to consider in painting.

necessary before you start
painting.
Size. Remember to take a look
at the actual size of the
painting and try to visualize it.
Shape. Make sure that the
shape of the canvas suit the
subject matter.
