STORYTELLING AND SCHOOL-BASED READING FESTIVAL

1. In celebration of the National Reading Month, this Office announces the conduct of Project
Basahusay Virtual Tour of Reading Magic Centers and Virtual Storytelling from November 15-19,
2021 via DepEd Tayo City of San Jose Del Monte and The Magical World of Reading Facebook
Pages.

2. School-Based Reading Festival shall be conducted within the month of November to provide all
learners the opportunities to participate in various reading activities that foster love for and habit of
reading.

3. Public Schools District Supervisors are tasked to take the lead in the conduct of virtual tour and virtual
storytelling scheduled as follows:

4. Enclosed is the list of suggested activities for the School-Based Reading Festival to be led by School
Reading Magic Coordinators. Inclusion of other book-based activities is allowed provided that they
center on the development of reading skills and promotion of reading as a culture as contained in the
two ARCs of Reading of Project Basahusay.

5. A Post Activity Report (PAR) on the conduct of School Based Reading Festival shall be submitted to
this Office on or before December 3, 2021.

6. Widest dissemination of this Schools Division Memorandum is desired.

1 Storytelling Teachers are encouraged to do online storytelling to learners
through their SRP FB Pages to help them improve their
reading comprehension skills.
2 Reading Family Each family is challenged to read at least once a week. Each
family is expected to post pictures and posters about the
stories they have read.
3 Reading Challenge All teaching and non-teaching personnel of the school are
enjoined to read a book for a week. A book sharing activity is
highly encouraged.
4 Quiet Time This is devoting quiet time in reading in learners’ spaces at
home.
5 Virtual Demonstration Teaching It is encouraged to reskill and upskill teachers in elementary,
JHS and SHS.
7 Araw ng Pagbasa Each school is requested to have a day for silent reading.
