6.1.1 The level of the concrete slab shall be checked as per drawing and the height of first floor
level be checked to determine the height of column as per drawing.

6.1.2 Starter bar of every column shall be checked to ensure that there has enough lapping
length as per drawing requirement. (normally is 45 time of bar size)

6.2 SETTING OUT

6.2.1 The surveyor will provide and transfer a gridline references mark to surface of concrete
floor.

6.2.2 Base on the gridline references, the carpenter has to set out the column position with right
angle marker at every column. This reference is to guide the barbender to install and fix up
the steel bar of column.

6.3 FORMWORK AND RE-BAR

6.3.1 Re-bar shall then be fixed accordingly. The bar bender must be making sure that the
position of reinforcement shall not be out from the right angel marker provided by
carpenter.

6.3.2 Before formwork of column to be erected and fixed, main contractor’s Engineer shall
inspect the reinforcement for approval.

6.3.3 After four side of formwork are fixed, carpenter shall make sure that the formwork of
column are vertical by using split level and plumb bob. This checking shall be checked all
corner of every column and tighten up using 1”x2” timber nailed on surface on concrete
slab.

6.3.4 An opening must be provided at middle height of every column, these are to guide the
concreter to check the concrete

6.3.5 Reference level shall then be marked on formwork of every column. These are to check
the differences of uneven surface of concrete slab an to determine finish top level of
formwork which will receive soffit formwork of first floor beam for the purposed to make
sure that the soffit of the first floor beam are straight and in level when connected from one
column to another column.

6.4 CASTING

pouring shall be half height of column and after continually to two or three column
and before the concrete of the first column become set, the second part must be
continuing.

6.4.2.3 Step of 4.4.2.2 is to make sure all column is constantly vibrated and to avoid
honeycomb occur.
