What is Aqeedah? ‫عقیدہ کیا ہے‬

Word Aqeedah comes from the root word
AQD which means a knot which ties two
things firmly together

What is Aqeedah? ‫عقیدہ کیا ہے‬
• Aqeedah is Knowledge!
• A set of beliefs, that one’s heart is
fixed upon, without any wavering or ‫می ہوتا ہ‬ ‫عقیده علم ہ‬
‫عقیده دل ر‬
doubt.
• Aqeedah refers to those matters ‫می آپ کو کون‬
‫وه بات جس ےک بارے ر‬
which are believed in, with certainty ‫شک نہ ہو‬
and conviction, in one’s heart and
soul. ‫می اعتقاد ر ے‬
‫کھن واےل کو‬ ‫ایسا حکم جس ر‬
• They are not tainted with any doubt ‫نہی ہوتا‬
‫کون شک ر‬
or uncertainty.

Why Aqeedah is Important?

• Aqeedah is the seed of the believer.
• That is why Aqeedah is so important!
• If the seed is wrong or unhealthy or diseased, the tree will not
grow.
• If the Aqeedah is wrong or corrupt or diseased, then one can
not become a true believer.

Comparison of Aqeedah to the Seed

• If the seed is not of the date palm or if it
is unhealthy or diseased, the tree will

Aqeedah and Emaan
"Eemaan is not Emaan except if the Aqeedah is correct. And if the

Aqeedah is not correct, then there is no Eemaan, and (there is) no
deen (religion)."

‫جاتا ہے اور اور وہ اپنے رب پر بھروسہ رکھتے ہیں‬

‫‪The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and [so have] the believers. All of them have‬‬
‫‪believed in Allah and His angels and His books and His messengers, [saying], "We make no distinction between any of His‬‬
‫]‪messengers." And they say, "We hear and we obey. [We seek] Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the [final‬‬
‫)‪destination.(2:285‬‬
‫ز‬ ‫ے‬ ‫ے‬
‫مومنی بیھ۔ یہ سب ہللا پر اور اس ےک فرشتوں اور اس‬ ‫رسول اس پر ایمان ےل آئ جو ان پر ان ےک رب یک طرف ےس نازل ہوت اور‬
‫ے‬ ‫ے‬ ‫ے‬
‫یک کتابوں اور اس ےک رسولوں پر ایمان الئ ہی‪[ ،‬یہ کہت ہوئ] کہ ہم اس ےک رسولوں می ےس کیس می کوت فرق نہی کرئ۔‬

‫اور وہ کہت ہی کہ ہم ئ سنا اور مان لیا‪ ،‬اے ہمارے رب‪ ،‬اور تیی یہ طرف لوٹ کر جانا ہ (‪)2:285‬‬

Hadith e Jibreel
Narrated Umar bin Al-Khattab :‫رضي الله عنه‬
One day while we were sitting with the Messenger of Allah there appeared before us a man whose clothes were
exceedingly white and whose hair was exceedingly black; no signs of journeying were to be seen on him and none of us
knew him. He walked up and sat down by the prophet. Resting his knees against his and placing the palms of his hands
on his thighs, he said: “O Muhammad, tell me about Islam.”
The Messenger of Allah )‫صلی الله علیه وسلم‬said:

Islam is to testify that there is no god but Allah and Muhammed is the messenger of Allah, to perform the prayers, to pay
the zakat, to fast in Ramadhan, and to make the pilgrimage to the House if you are able to do so.
The man said: “You have spoken rightly,” and we were amazed at him asking him and saying that he had spoken rightly.
Then he said: “Tell me about Iman (faith).”
The Prophet ( )‫صلی الله علیه وسلم‬said:

It is to believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, and the Last Day, and to believe in divine destiny, both the
good and the evil thereof.

‫رض ہللا عنہ بیان کرئ ہی‬
‫ز‬ ‫ے‬
‫سامن ایک‬ ‫ایک دن ہم رسول ہللا صیل ہللا علیہ وسلم ےک پاس بیٹھے ہوئ تھے کہ ہمارے‬
‫کیے بہت زیادہ سفید اور اس ےک بال بہت کاےل تھے۔ اس پر سفر ےک آثار‬ ‫آدیم آیا جس ےک ڑ‬
‫ے‬
‫کوت اےس نہی جانتا تھا۔ وہ اٹھ کر نب ےک پاس بیٹھ گیا۔ اپتز‬
‫ی‬ ‫نظر نہی آئ تھے اور ہم می ےس‬
‫ے‬ ‫سامن رکھ کر اور ز‬
‫اپت ہاتھوں یک ہتھیلیوں کو ز‬ ‫ز‬
‫اپب رانوں پر رکھت ہوئ‬ ‫گھٹنوں کو اس ےک‬
‫فرمایا‬: ‫اے محمد مجھے اسالم ےک بارے می بتاؤ۔‬
‫ز‬
‫رسول ہللا صیل ہللا علیہ وسلم ئ فرمایا‬:
‫ے‬
،‫اسالم اس بات یک گوایہ دینا ہ کہ ہللا ےک سوا کوت معبود نہی اور محمد ہللا ےک رسول ہی‬
ٰ ‫ ز‬،‫نماز پڑھنا‬
‫ رمضان ےک روزے رکھنا اور استطاعت ہو تو بیت ہللا کا حج کرنا۔‬،‫کوۃ ادا کرنا‬
‫ز‬ ‫ز‬ ‫ز‬ ‫اور ہم حیان رہ ے‬
‫اس آدیم ئ کہا‬: ’’‫گن کہ اس ئ اس ےس پوچھا اور کہا کہ ‘‘تم ئ ٹھیک کہا‬
‫ز‬
‫اس ئ ٹھیک کہا۔ پھر فرمایا‬: ‫مجھے ایمان ےک بارے می بتاؤ۔‬
‫ز‬
‫ ینب کریم صیل ہللا علیہ وسلم ئ فرمایا‬:
‫ اس ےک رسولوں اور یوم آخرت پر ایمان النا اور تقدیر‬،‫ اس یک کتابوں‬،‫فرشتوں‬
