II. VERBS + TO-INFINITIVES

SIGN LANGUAGE.
Because deaf people cannot hear, they have special ways of communicating. For
example, they can learn to understand what someone is saying by looking at the mouth of
the speaker. This is called lipreading. Also, speaking is very difficult for the deaf, because
they cannot hear their own voices. However, it is possible with special training.
According to many deaf people all around the world, the most practical and popular way
of communicating is with sign language.
In many ways, sign language is similar to spoken language. The words of sign
language are made with signs, which are formed with movements of the hands, face, and
body. As with words, each sign has a different meaning and can be combined to form
sentences. Sign languages also have their own grammar. The alphabet of sign language is
special hand signs that stand for letters; they make spelling possible. The signs combine
to form a rich language that can express the same thoughts, feelings, and ideas as any
spoken language. And just as people from different countries speak different languages,
most countries have their own variety of sign language.

PROS OF SOCIAL NETWORKING

WHAT WOULD YOUR LIFE BE LIKE WITHOUT A PHONE?
It is true that everything works at a fast pace these days, due to the quick access
we have to pretty much anything and anyone. For example, you can contact someone
who lives on the other side of the world within seconds. This is great if you think about
how connected we can stay to the people who are far away from us; however, on the
contrary, can we be too connected to the people who are close to us? An argument arose
about the fact that it is easier to message someone from your sofa than to meet them in
person and talk. On one hand, it is easier and nice sometimes to casually chat to a friend
this way. However, it is also lazier and rude to prefer to talk to someone on your phone
rather than meeting up, if you are able to, in my opinion. Social skills are important to
have and if you are not going to put effort into real-life communication, then you are not

Another point was that phones are very handy to look up something that you are
wondering about. For example, if you don’t know a word in another language, you can
quickly and simply access a translator to help you out. This can be very helpful in many
situations, but it can also make a person dependent on the internet to help with anything.
This factor slightly takes away the diversity of learning a language and conversing with
people, as you are able to access everything you need via the web.
All in all, this question is very interesting to consider for oneself as we become
day by day more dependent on technology. We should just be aware of how much we
really need to be connected via our phones while considering the benefits and damage it
can cause us.

Tran Dai Nghia (1913-1997) - The Buddha of Guns
Professor, Academician Tran Dai Nghia is a heroic Scientist of Vietnamese
intellectuals. In 1935, the young man Pham Quang Le, his real name, had a scholarship to
study in France. He tried to take 6 college degrees and certificates from the most famous
universities of France. Unlike the others, Pham Quang Le had a clear purpose when
studying abroad. He studied the science of making weapons to serve the country's
independence.
The meeting between him and President Ho Chi Minh in Paris in 1946 changed
the life of Pham Quang Le. In 1946, under the requirements of the French war, he was
assigned as Head of Military Department by Uncle Ho with the responsibility of
researching, manufacturing weapons for our soldiers to fight the enemy. Uncle Ho said,
“This is the good thing. So from now on your name is Tran Dai Nghia...”
In difficult conditions, Professor Tran Dai Nghia and his comrades made
successfully bazookas, recoilless canons (SKZ), and flying bombs. In praise of the
success of bazookas, when General Vo Nguyen Giap saw Mr. Tran Dai Nghia as a gentle
and quiet engineer. General called him “The Buddha of guns”.

SMARTPHONE REVOLUTION
It was just over a decade ago when cell phones were primarily used for calling and
sending texts. Today, the uses of cell phones run the gamut. Phones do everything from
taking high-resolution pictures to watching pixel-perfect videos, browsing the Internet to
playing graphic-intensive games to monitoring your movements in addition to fulfilling
basic communication needs.
The advent of smartphones has greatly simplified our lives. People now connect
with their loved ones more frequently and easily through video calls and instant
