RESEARCH For secondary research I used examples of Converses previous

adverts, I wrote down what I liked, didn’t like and parts I could
incorporate into my own advert for example a good yet simple
transition of choice of camera shot. Another example of
secondary research is finding out about my targeted
demographic, e.g., learning what age my audience would be,
what styles of advert they are drawn into most. I found out that
my target audience was young adults to adults (14-25).

PLANNING For planning I did a script, location recce and the other
members in my group did the checklist and storyboard. Another
example of planning was choosing which location to film, this
included going around the chosen location taking reference
photos for the advert. Mentally I also planned what I’d do for my
advert editing wise, such as thinking about what transitions to
use.

TEAM PLAYER An example of when I was a team player during the making of
the advert was being open to negotiation of filming location as
the two others member of my group did not think the spots, I
chose were suitable, another example was when I brought in
props for the advert such as the Converse shoes.

PROBLEM SOLVING We were trying to do a 360-degree shot of the shoes close up however
we did not have any Dutch rotating arm for the camera to do so, the
way we solved this was by changing and deciding to do a different shot
entirely which was a video of myself in the shoes jumping over the
camera. On the other hand, another problem I solved was I didn’t have
enough footage to fully complete the 30 seconds so I had to add an
improvised transition to images in the editing.

OWNERSHIP The entirety of my TV advert edit was my own creation, I wanted to

make something similar to the real Converse advertisements but
without copying them so I tried to replicate a style of minimalism and let
your personal experiences do the advertising for the shoe, meaning I
had no dialogue.

LEARN AND IMPROVE One new skill I have learnt during the process of making this
advertisement is the importance of camera angles and lighting, I think
one thing my advert really lacked was good shots and better lighting,
this could be potentially improved on by changing film location.
However, one thing I improved on was workflow I noticed for the TV
advert I need to keep my work flow tidier as well as work faster.

MEET DEADLINES I reached the deadline set as I did all the work with at least a week
remaining of the due date, however there is one tiny bit I did not
complete due to it being a survey I am still waiting on all my 10 results,
considering that I only have 7/10, this is something I will complete as
soon as possible.

Be as detailed as you can with all sections of this task.
