Introductory Review on differentiating a phrase and a sentence.
Activity Ask:What is a sentence? What is a phrase?
(____minutes) Say: I have here a picture.
Describe the picture using different actions or emotions shown in the picture Write the words
they gave on the board.
Ask: Can you give a sentence using different actions or emotions like asking something ?
Activity
(____minutes) Present different sentences with correct punctuation marks like declarative sentence,
interrogative sentence. on the board.
(Teacher may either use chart, strips to present the sentence. Introduce to the pupils the
different punctuation marks to be use in the sentence. )
Say:
I will read the sentence. Listen and observe how the punctuation mark was used in each
sentence.

Analysis Call 2 or 3 pupils to read the sentence.

What punctuation was used in declarative sentence? interrogative sentence?
(Let the pupils read the corresponding sentence as you give the question.
