LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH 2

(August 30, 2023, W1 D2)

I. Objective
By the end of this lesson, students will be able to identify and describe the sounds of mechanical
objects.
MELC Code: EN2PA-Ia-c-1.1

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Identifying the Sound of Mechanical Objects
a. References: Audio clips of various mechanical sounds (e.g., car engine, washing machine, clock
ticking).Pictures or diagrams of the mechanical objects.
b. Materials: Whiteboard and markers, Audio playback device (e.g., computer, smartphone),
Worksheets with pictures of mechanical objects.
c. Integration: This lesson can be integrated with science and technology to discuss how different
machines and mechanical objects work.
III. Procedure
A. Introduction
Preliminary Activities
a. Begin with a short prayer.
b. Greet the students and create a welcoming atmosphere.
c. Set the standard for classroom behavior and attentiveness during the lesson.
B. Motivation and Motive Tandem Questions
Ask students to recall a time when they heard a strange or interesting sound coming from a
machine or mechanical object.
Encourage students to share their experiences and discuss why identifying these sounds is
important.
C. Modeling
Play a recorded audio clip of a mechanical sound (e.g., a car engine starting) without showing the
corresponding object.
Ask the students to listen carefully to the sound and describe what they think it might be.
Write their responses on the whiteboard.
D. Guided Practice
Divide the class into three groups.
Each group will listen to a different mechanical sound and try to identify the object producing that sound.
Provide each group with a picture or diagram of the mechanical object they are trying to identify.
After listening, each group will discuss and write down their answers.
Group 1 - Play audio clip 1 (e.g., a clock ticking) and provide a picture of a clock.
Group 2 - Play audio clip 2 (e.g., a washing machine running) and provide a picture of a washing
machine. Group 3 - Play audio clip 3 (e.g., a car engine starting) and provide a picture of a car.
Generalization
- Bring the class back together and ask each group to share their answers and describe how they
arrived at their conclusions.
- Discuss commonalities in the sounds and what clues helped them identify the objects.
- Summarize the key points of the lesson: the importance of identifying mechanical sounds and the
auditory clues they can use.
E. Independent Practice
Distribute worksheets with pictures of various mechanical objects.
Play different audio clips of mechanical sounds, one at a time.
Students individually match the sound to the corresponding picture on their worksheet.
Collect and review the worksheets to assess individual understanding.
Closure
Summarize the lesson by revisiting the importance of identifying mechanical sounds.
Encourage students to continue practicing their listening skills and identifying sounds in everyday
life.
Homework (Optional)
As a homework assignment, ask students to find and record the sounds of two different
mechanical objects they encounter at home or in their neighborhood. They should describe the sounds and
try to identify the objects.
