• здобути необхідні мовні навички;
• непомітно подолати мовний бар'єр;
• удосконалити свою розмовну мову;
• поєднати навчання із захопливим відпочинком;
- розглянути теоретичні основи впровадження компетентісного підходу;
мови в позакласний час;
літньому мовному таборі;
- теоретико-аналітичний (аналіз методичної літератури);
- загально дидактичний (аналіз програм, методичної літератури);
- системний підхід (педагогічне проектування та моделювання);

27
Day 1. “Opening”
Step 1
Welcome to our summer English Camp!
Look at the pictures around you and try to guess the name of it
28
Let’s brainstorm some ideas given by you and come up with some conclusion –
yes you’re we are going to travel different countries you have seen!
There are so many of you, let’s get acquainted at first - stand in two circles –
outer and inner and say one thing you would like your partner to know about you
(when you finish the circles brainstorm your ideas):
Step 2
Now as you know each other a little better and know the title of the camp
you’ll definitely agree that many people like to travel and we are not exception. In
our camp you’ll be able to travel virtually to different countries during 10 days of our
29
camp. I hope you’ll like it. The theme of our journey is “The World Outside Out”
and now I give you a chance to make a motto of it, you can take pens, pencils and
other things and make a rhyme:
We’ve got no money
We’ve got no fear,
We like to travel,
That’s why we are here.
Let’s sing it together! We also can make a song and jazz chant of our camp
(show the algorithm how to do it):
I've packed my bag
Time after time
I've done my trip
A thousand times
Discovered world
I've met new people
I've crossed the ocean
now I`m packing my suitcase
And buying a ticket
And I need to go on and on and on and on
Step 4
O’k, we have two teams now so you’ve got 20 min to make up a name for your
team, a motto and a song if possible:
31
Song … …
Step 5
Now, when you’re divided into teams, it would be great to play and move and
have some fun. Maybe you have seen that all over school there are stations devoted to
different countries such as Ukraine, Great Britain, Canada Australia, New
Zealand, the USA. You have to do the given tasks and get some points for successful
attempts. And the team that more points will win, gets a price and will help teachers
with organization of the day dedicated to that day.
Task 1: look at the pictures of the country, combine them and make up a story
about the country.
Task 2: look at the realias on the table and explain how can you use them in
everyday life, what country do they belong to.
Task 3: look at the map of the country, use your bodies to make the real life
map – some pupils will be the capitals, some borders and you can hold hands if
needed.
Task 4: you see the name of the country, make up a rhyme, song about it, then
act it out in the funny way.
Task 5: use the letters on the table to make up words-realias which are
significant for the country.
Each team has the same set of tasks so only the accuracy of their fulfillment is
used. When all tasks are done, pupils receive prizes; there is the summary of the day
and announcing of the next one. Feedback using the feedback tree.

puts it in his mouth. He then replaces the gloves in the bag, closes it, and
runs back to tag the next in line.
Continue doing this until all the gum in the bag is gone - some campers
will do more than one trip.
If using bubblegum, the first team to be in line and all have bubbles
blown at the same time wins. Otherwise, the first team to have all
members back in line wins. [www.campingdude.com]
PREPARATION
Stir the water and sugar together and bring to a gentle boil. Add all the
berries and fruits except strawberries. Stew the fruits very gently and not for too
long. They should simply be softened but still retain their shape. Once you feel they
are ready put to one side (juice and all) and leave to cool.
Cut the slices of bread into half the each half into triangles. They do not
all have to match perfectly, you will use these to line a 1½ pint/700 ml pudding.
Start by lining your pudding basin with cling film. Then continue by
dipping a couple of triangles in the juices of the stewed fruits. Lay these in the bottom
of the dish and then continue the same way but lining the sides of the basin
with bread slices ensuring there are no gaps.
Once completed, fill with the stewed fruits including the strawberries.
Cover the top with more juice dipped bread slices. Make sure to not add too much of
the juices from the fruits as this may cause the bread to lose its shape. There must be
enough to soak into the bread though.
Place a saucer on the top of the basin and weigh down with sometihng
heavy like a tin of tomatoes or beans is ideal.
The next day, before serving, turn the pudding out onto a pretty serving
plate and serve with either he whipped cream or make some lovely custard sauce. If
you are lucky enough to have very hot sunny weather, then serve with ice cream.

First team is to choose a route for lovers of nature, animals using given phrases.
Our family goes on a trip to …because…… In our way of thinking… We strongly recommend you to…
I consider it to be the best route for my family…..
We love it because…

We are sure / we are certain that ...
Choose only 5 places and persuade the jury (teachers) that your route is the best one.
This activity makes pupils act as a travel guide. The winner gets a prize.
American Sports game: pass the apple not touching it with your hands, using your
head (neck).
46
Speedball (American ball game) is a quick, fast paced sport that is simple to teach
and combines many aspects of other sports. Points are scored by throwing or kicking
the ball into the opposing goal. It is played with two teams of five, each with one
goalkeeper on a basketball court or football/soccer field.
Rules:
Game starts by having a jump ball in the center of the court
The field players are allowed to move anywhere on the field of game play
The field players are permitted to touch the ball with any part of their body at
any time EXCEPT their arms/hands (see next rule for details)
Field players may use their arms/hands as long as the last thing the ball touches
is not the ground; one may not pick up the ball from the ground or catch it after
it bounces off the ground.
If a player does touch the ball with their arms illegally, then it is considered a
handball penalty and will result in the ball being turned over to the other team's
goalie
If the player has the ball in his/her hands, they must make every effort to stop
moving as fast as possible (if one keeps moving it is considered a travel and
the ball will be turned over to the other team's goalie)
Once a player has a ball in their possession, they can pass it off, attempt to
score, or drop the ball in order to utilize other parts of the body to move the
ball
Goalies must stay on their side of the court (can't cross half court line)
Goalies can touch the ball with ANY part of their body, meaning that they
have the power to pick up the ball off the ground without it being considered
an "illegal" move
It is still illegal for goalies to travel when the ball is in their hands; however
they can dribble the ball while moving.
47
Step 5. Feedback
48
It`s time to finish and evaluate our active day. Draw smiling, neutral or sad face to
show your feelings, whether you enjoyed yourself.

Materials: brown craft foam, black craft foam, orange craft foam, wiggle eyes,
glue, broad sheet of paper.
Pupils bring their photos. Each team gets a brad sheet of paper, pencils. The
task is to draw a shape of a map of New Zealand and to colour it with pencils.
Afterwards, they begin new stage.
51
Teacher prepares small kiwi templates. Each member of two groups cuts out
one body and two wings from brown foam, two legs from back foam and glue these
parts together. They also glue orange beaks to their birds and two eyes as well. Each
pupil glues his/her photo to the kiwi.
Teams complete their maps sticking kiwis with photos. We end this activity by
resenting maps. http://iteslj.org/Lessons/Counihan-Activities/Compliments.html

Step 1.
Welcome to our next country. It is Canada. Before travelling to another
country, let us remember our motto:
We’ve got no money
We’ve got no fear
We like to travel,
That’s why we’re here.
Let’s sing it together. Now we have time for Compliments.
Before stepping on the other country, I would like to remind you
that we started a new tradition, to inspire each other with a help of
Compliments!
Today we are complimenting each other on how we look like. For
example:
May I be so bold as to compliment your + (dress / hair / outfit /
etc.)?
I hope you don't mind, but you are looking beautiful / handsome
today.
You look great today!
Time out. And now this information will be useful because we will play in the
Canadian quiz.
Step 3
Canada Quiz Questions
54
Let’s start.
59
Each team has a goalkeeper two defenders that protect goal and
two forwards.
The main idea of the game is to score more points than the other
team by hitting the ball into opponent’s goal.
It is allowed to push each other (but not too hard) but no hitting
each other, no stepping on the opponent’s foot.
Corner assigned if the ball went behind the goal line outside the
gate.

Rough, unsportsmanlike behavior of players leads to penalties or
removal from the field for 5 min or for the whole game.
Do you understand the rules? Fine. Teams out on the playing field and start the game.

Day 10
Closing “”Create Your Own Country
Step 1
Warm-up activity: create the language people will use in your country
Every country you know has its language so if you want your country to live
and develop, let’s create it and use it every day. Name what letters will stand for and
what will the words mean.
92
Step 2
Fashion show
“The clothes people will wear in my country”
When you go to China you can see a kimono, when you go to the USA you can
see different suits, you know people like to wear different clothes so let’s create the
ones people can wear in your country and display them on our fashion show:
93
Step 3
Outdoor activity – my kind of game
People like to work but even more they like to play, let’s create a game they
will be able to play in their free time, explain the rules of this game, participants and
needed equipment.
Dogs and Jackals
This time let me introduce you to a game whose name and rules have also been
forgotten among the mists of the past. It is known as the game of "Dogs and Jackals."
We know of it by way of a famous boardgame found in an Egyptian tomb. It belongs
to a family of games named "game of the thirty points" or "game of the fifty eight
holes".
Many gameboards or pieces of gameboards have been discovered in Egypt but
also in Palestine, Mesopotamia and Assyria. A very nice boardgame has been found
in the tomb of Reny-Seneb, XII dynasty, about 1800 BC. This beautiful game in
ebony and ivory, has the shape of a small piece of furniture. The gameboard is a
rectangular (15x10cm) wooden box, put on four animal legs. The top in ivory is
carved with a palm tree and fifty eight holes. Schematic drawing of the gameboard.
94
In the drawer within the box, ten pawns were found. They look like short
sticks, five carved with a dog head and five with a jackal head. The pawns were
placed in the holes of the gameboard, they certainly describe a trail that the pawns
have to follow. Holes showings marks (15), circles, or inlays might have played a
special role in the course of the game. Were the lines between 10 and 24, or 20 and
22 some shortcuts ?
The game is for two players. Five dogs are given to one and five jackals to the
other. You will need three pieces of money to use to determine movement. The goal
is to reach the five points (25 to 29) on your side of the board and win the dates.
For the moves the conventions are:
one head = one
two heads = two
three heads = three
three tails = five and a free move
The Play
Both players agree on a stake.
The right side of the board belongs to the dogs and the left to the jackals.
The brown circle above the palm tree is the starting point. The pawns move
then on the side of the gameboard trying to reach the top of the tree (25 to 29).
95
Exact throws are required to reach the final positions. The order in which it is
done has no importance.
The two players throw the three coins in turn. A five is required to introduce a
new pawn on the starting point. Then the pieces are thrown again to move the pawn.
The first pawn to reach a hole with an horizontal mark (15 on dog side) wins
the stake.
Only one pawn may be put on a hole. If no move is possible the throw is lost
for this player.
If a pawn reaches a hole linked to an other hole by a path (10-24, 20-22), it
follows the line which acts like a ladder to the victory.
A player must move his pawns when he can do so. If he can move no pawns,
his or her opponent is allowed to add his throw to his or her own .
The first player having put his five pawns in the five holes (25 to 29) wins the
game.
Step 4
The main dish is served, sir – workshop (how to cook this dish)
To live people need to eat and sleep, so if the second we can do individually it
would be very good if we create several dishes that will represent our new country,
make up a recipe and let’s cook it:
Insects
One of the most popular street-food meals in the countries of Southeast Asia
and in some areas of Africa is a combination of insects. Insects are offered in
96
different meals and with different tastes and people generally go for crickets,
cockroaches, spiders, and some other creepy-crawlies. It’s important to say that
eating insects is part of the Asian and African cultures and that in recent years it has
gained popularity due to the practice of eating insects on TV.
Stuffed Camel
There is no other dish in the world that is as big as this one. Bedouins take a
whole camel and fill it with a lamb that in turned is filled with several chickens that
contain eggs and rice on their inside. It’s important to say that is a traditional dish
people prepare only for special occasions and that it is a really hard work to prepare a
stuffed camel.
Prairie Oysters
97
Even when the majority of people call them prairie oysters, it’s important to
say that this dish had nothing to do with oysters. This unusual but typical dish in
certain areas of North America is prepared with the testicles of a buffalo or bull.
People take the testicles and cover them with a thin layer of flour and then deep-fry
them in hot oil.
Step 5
Summer camp diary – wishes for your campmates
There is a good tradition of any camp to leave comments about the things you
liked during it. Today we’ll make a summer camp diary where your campmates will
writes some good wishes for you to take home and read if you feel sad.

99
процесі спілкування;
100
кожен учасник спілкування залишається у фокусі уваги інших;
- широке використання інтерактивних форм навчання;
- використання комунікативних ситуацій;
