ПЕРЕКЛАД СТАЛИХ НЕОБРАЗНИХ ФРАЗ, НЕОЛОГІЗМІВ

1. Сталі необразні (тобто такі, що не містять певного експресивного образу) звичайно

перекладаються існуючими в мові перекладу відповідниками:
✓ They are in a sense the deepest and most fundamental of all properties. - Вони в певному сенсі є
найглибшими і найфундаментальнішими з усіх властивостей.
✓ In the same way, the complex situation can be described with remarkable simplicity. - Подібним чином
цю складну ситуацію можна описати досить-таки просто.
Одним із поширених в текстах є кліше in terms of, яке перекладається переважно сталими
словосполученнями "з точки зору", "в плані", "у вигляді" та под.:
✓ Around the beginning of the 20th century, the study of cognition in terms of psychology, linguistics,
neuroscience and so on each developed into a distinct and separate area of inquiry. - Десь на початку
століття дослідження пізнання з точки зору психопогїі, мовознавства, нейрології та інших дисциплін
призвело до появи окремої чітко окресленої галузі дослідження.
✓ Even today these peoples are exceptionally homogeneous in terms of language and culture. - Навіть
і сьогодні ці народи є напрочуд однорідними в плані мови та культури.
Типові для текстів є також наступні сталі словосполучення: in question - означений, про який йдеться,
at issue - обговорюваний, спірний, to be true - бути правильним, підтверджуватися у випадку, with
respect to - стосовно.

2. Неологізм - нове слово, словосполучення, фразеологічний зворот, що з'являються в мові у зв'язку

з розвитком суспільного життя, культури, науки, техніки. Варто зазначити, що під неологізмами вчені
зазвичай розуміють не лише абсолютно нові слова, але також наявні лексичні одиниці, які набувають
нового значення. Таким чином, неологізмами можна вважати:
– абсолютно нове слово;
– нове поєднання наявних слів: employment slack – надлишкова робоча сила.
Економічна криза сприяла появі в мові нової лексичної одиниці employment slack, яка, на відміну від
економічного терміна unemployment rate, включає в себе безробітних, зневірених знайти роботу і тих, хто
працює неповний робочий день, але бажає працювати повний;
– нове значення існуючих слів. Наприклад, лексична одиниця lift-off, яка до 2015 р.
використовувалася в значенні «запуск повітряного або космічного апарату або початок будь-якого
успішного заходу», внаслідок підвищення процентних ставок у США після тривалого періоду збереження
їх на низькому рівні наприкінці 2015 р. почало використовуватися в новому значенні – «стрімке
підвищення процентних ставок».
Існує кілька способів перекладу неологізмів:
1) використання існуючого українського відповідника: think tank – колектив вчених, “мозковий
центр”;
2) калькування: line service – лінійна служба, slang yard – шлаковий двір, self loading –
самозавантаження;
3) транскрибування, транслітерація: piperitone – піперитон; pace – пейс (позасистемна одиниця
довжини); marker – маркер (маркувальний олівець);
4) описовий переклад: wail – автомобіль з високими динамічними якостям;
5) пряме включення – спосіб перекладу, який передбачає використання англійського слова в його
початковій формі: wi-fi, iPod, iPad. Досить часто такий спосіб перекладу використовують для перекладу
неологізмів, що складаються з двох частин, де одна з них подається мовою оригіналу: web-сторінка;
6) приблизний переклад – спосіб перекладу, за якого використовуються лексичні одиниці мови
перекладу, які можуть частково відповідати безеквівалентній лексиці мови оригіналу. У результаті такого
перекладу значення слова загалом зберігається, однак може втрачатись його стилістичний фон: nerd –
неприємна, неприваблива людина, wimp – слабка людина, невдаха, buddy – друг, товариш.
 Вправа 1. Перекладіть речення, визначивши адекватні відповідники сталих необразних виразів,
вжитих в реченнях:
