Ознайомити учнів з поняттям «хибні друзі перекладача».
Розвивати навички монологічного й діалогічного мовлення.
Тренувати у переглядовому читанні.
Виховувати усвідомлення важливості вивчення іноземної мови.

І. ПІДГОТОВКА ДО СПРИЙНЯТТЯ ІНШОМОВНОГО МОВЛЕННЯ

Greeting 1. Привітання.
T: Good morning, children! How are you getting on?

Aim 2. Повідомлення теми та мети уроку.

T: Today we’ll talk about peculiarities of the English language. We’ll discuss the
different variants and accents of English. We’ll also compare the English phonetics,
vocabulary and grammar with the systems of the Ukrainian language.

Warming up 3. Уведення в іншомовну атмосферу.

Лінгвістична гра.
Учні ланцюжком визначають, правдиві чи ні факти, які зачитує вчитель.
T: Listen to the interesting facts concerning the English language and guess if they
are true or false.
1) The most common letter in English is «s».
2) The most common vowel in English is «e», followed by «a».
3) Only two English words in current use end in «-gry».
4) More English words begin with the letter «c» than with any other letter.
5) The word «uncopyrightable» is the longest English word in normal use.
6) The following sentence contains all 23 letters of the alphabet: «The quick brown fox
jumps over the lazy dog». This sentence is often used to test typewriters or
keyboards.
7) The only word in English that ends with the letters «-mt» is «dreamt» (which is
a variant spelling of «dreamed») — as well of course as «undreamt».

Учні у групах по троє-четверо складають список слів, що звучать схоже в англій-
ській та українській мовах. Виграє група, в якої список довший.
2) Гра «False Friends of a Translator».
а) Бесіда з учнями.
T: False friends of a translator are pairs of words in two languages which are similar
in spelling or pronunciation, however having different meanings, for example:
genial — добрий, а не геніальний, magazine — журнал, а не магазин; mosquito —
комар, а не москіт, accurate — точний, а не акуратний.
Can you give any examples of false friends of a translator? You may work in pairs.
б) Робота з картками.
Учні у групах по троє-четверо шукають на картках (НО1) слова, що є хибними
друзями перекладача, потім по черзі читають їх, перекладають і пояснюють свій
вибір. Учитель стежить за правильністю відповідей.

 3) Переглядове читання тексту. Впр. 2 (с. 16).
Учні протягом хвилини продивляються текст впр. 2, а потім виконують завдання
на с. 16. Після цього вони швидко мовчки читають текст ще раз і повідомляють, чи
правильно виконали завдання та яких помилок припустилися. Учитель стежить за
правильністю виконання вправи.

Homework
Впр. 3 (с. 17).
1) Гра «Correct Me!».
Учні по черзі складають неправильні твердження за текстом вправи та виправля-
ють один одного.
2) Усні повідомлення.
Учні по черзі розповідають про варіанти англійської мови. Учитель стежить за
правильністю виконання завдання.

Reading and 3. Подання тексту для читання й обговорення. Впр. 4 (с. 18).
Discussing
Учні самостійно читають текст, потім по черзі відповідають на запитання вчителя.

Song 4. Вивчення пісні.

T: Can you remember any songs describing the feelings of a person in the culture of
a different language?
Today we’ll learn a song like that which is called «Englishman in New York»; this is
a famous, melodical, extremely popular song by a famous singer Sting.
Учні слухають пісню, слідкуючи за текстом на картках (НО2). Потім по черзі від-
повідають на запитання вчителя.
T: Where is the man from?
Where is he at the moment?
How does he feel like? Does the song explain why?
Після цього хором співають.

Speaking 5. Розвиток умінь мовлення.

1) Впр. 5 (с. 18).
Учні працюють у групах по троє-четверо: пригадують і записують слова, запози-
чені з англійської мови, потім складають речення з цими словами (англійською
й українською). По закінченні роботи кожна група зачитує свої речення. Учитель
стежить за їх правильністю.
2) Рольова гра. Впр. 6 (с. 18).
Учні, спираючись на текст вправи, у парах складають діалоги за ролями: один
з учнів уявляє себе англійцем, що цікавиться особливостями української мови,
а другий — фахівцем-україністом, який відповідає на запитання англійця стосов-
но розбіжностей української й англійської фонетики, граматики та синтаксису.
По закінченні роботи три-чотири пари інсценують свої діалоги. Учитель стежить
за правильністю граматичної будови речень.

ІІІ. ЗАКЛЮЧНА ЧАСТИНА УРОКУ

Homework 1. Домашнє завдання.

Підготувати для однокласників п’ять запитань, що стосуються лексичних, грама-
тичних, фонетичних особливостей англійської мови.

Summarizing 2. Підведення підсумків уроку.
