Мета: Повторити й активізувати ЛО теми.
Удосконалювати техніку читання.
Розвивати навички монологічного й діалогічного мовлення.
Розвивати ерудицію учнів.
Виховувати громадянську самосвідомість.
Обладнання: Підручник, робочий зошит, картки для самостійної роботи (НО1), для роботи у групах (НО2).

$ ХІД УРОКУ

І. ПІДГОТОВКА ДО СПРИЙНЯТТЯ ІНШОМОВНОГО МОВЛЕННЯ

Greeting 1. Привітання.
T: Good morning, children!
Ps: Good morning, teacher!

Aim 2. Повідомлення теми та мети уроку.

T: Today we’ll speak about the social problems of youth, and particularly discuss HIV
danger and prevention.

Warming up 3. Уведення в іншомовну атмосферу.

1) Повторення вірша Семюеля Уллмана «Youth Is not a Time of Life, It Is a State of
Mind».
Один з учнів декламує вірш.
2) Бесіда в режимі T→P1→P2→P3.
T: Are young people generally more selfish than their parents and grandparents?
Should adults try to teach young people lessons, such as the dangers of drinking too
much, taking drugs or catch the AIDS virus, or should they leave them alone to find
out about these things themselves?
What do you think is the best age to be? Explain your opinion.
What things were you taught by your older family members? How have they been
useful to you in your life?
Some people say that men never grow up, they just get bigger. Do you agree? Explain
your opinion.
Some people say that young women are usually two to three years more mature than
young men. Do you agree? Explain your opinion.
Should parents continue to finance their children after the children are 18?
Some people say that youth is a state of mind, do you agree?

ІІ. ОСНОВНА ЧАСТИНА УРОКУ

Reading and 1. Читання й обговорення.
Discussing
1) Впр. 3 (с. 202).
Учні самостійно читають статистичну інформацію, подану в тексті вправи, випи-
сують усі наведені цифрові дані й ланцюжком відповідають на запитання вчите-
ля: What do these numbers refer to?

 Після цього учні в групах по троє-четверо обговорюють післятекстові запитання
на с. 202.
2) Впр. 4 (с. 203).
Учні в парах перевіряють свою обізнаність у питаннях передачі СНІДу за запи-
таннями вправи. Потім учитель коментує відповіді на кожне із запитань.
3) Впр. 5 (с. 203).
Учні самостійно читають текст і роблять нотатки за планом, поданим на картках
(НО1). Потім, користуючись занотованою інформацією, складають короткі моно-
логічні повідомлення про проект, описаний у тексті вправи, і по черзі з ними ви-
ступають.

4) Впр. 6a (с. 204).

Учні самостійно читають наведені точки зору, виділяють головну думку кожної
з них і виписують опорні слова. Потім по черзі розповідають про досвід молодих
людей, що взяли участь у проекті Корпусу миру.
Учитель стежить за правильністю виконання завдань.

Speaking 2. Розвиток умінь мовлення.

Рольова гра. Впр. 6b (с. 205).
Учні відповідно до завдання складають діалоги в парах, а потім по черзі їх інсце-
нують. Учитель стежить за правильністю граматичної будови речень.

Project Work 3. Робота над проектом. Впр. 7 (с. 205).

Учні в групах по четверо-п’ятеро, використовуючи подані підказки, готують проек-
ти за темою «Citizenship for Young People», після чого представники груп презен-
тують свої проекти. Учитель разом з класом обирає найкращий.
Check on 4. Перевірка домашнього завдання.
Homework
1) РЗ, Unit 7, впр. 2.
Учні спочатку ланцюжком читають речення, які вони склали з поданих слів, а по-
тім і власні речення за темою «How to Become a Good Citizen».
2) РЗ, Unit 7, впр. 3.
Учні по черзі читають речення, акцентуючи увагу на словах з пропущеними го-
лосними.
Учитель стежить за правильністю відповідей.

Revision and
1) Бесіда з учнями.
Practice
Look at the «Vocabulary Point» box on page 206 and answer the questions.
What part of speech can be formed with the help of the prefix self-? Give some
examples.
What is the difference between self-confident and self-assured? Make up sentences
to illustrate the meaning of these words.
2) Впр. 1 (с. 206).
Учні самостійно співвідносять подані слова (1—6) із їхніми визначеннями (a—f).
3) Впр. 2 (с. 207).
Учні самостійно або за допомогою словника шукають українські відповідники по-
даних іменників і прикметників.
4) Впр. 3 (с. 207).
Учні в парах намагаються дати визначення поданим прикметникам, потім відпо-
відають на поставлене у завданні вправи запитання.
Учитель стежить за правильністю виконання завдань.
5) Робота з картками.
Учні виконують завдання на картках (НО2) в групах по троє-четверо. По закін-
ченні роботи представники груп по черзі порівнюють права молоді у Великій Бри-
танії та в Україні. Учитель стежить за правильністю граматичної будови ре-
чень.

HO2:
1. In groups, discuss the following:

2. Look at the table. Read what British teenagers can do at different ages and
